I have a new 1647, I did a clean install of Windows 7, updated to latest Dell BIOS for this laptop and currently I am plugged in via direct connection (battery taken out) to a 130W power adapter.

I am using VLC to playback a 1080p anime video. For the most part, video playback was smooth up until like 10 minutes ago. Laptop is noticibly warm, VLC keeps buffering. I'm assuming it's throttling.

How exactly do we combat this issue? I didn't think it was this bad!

    Use MPCHC http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

It uses all the power from the gfx card and not the CPU.

VLC is awesome tho, but MPCHC is awesome for mkv HD files.

Thanks mystycs, though I'm very stupid and I forgot to leave out one piece of critical information:

I am STREAMING the 1080p video via my network, now I am almost positive that's the reason haha
