The eject panel on my new 1647 is not working. The volume panels are working fine. Any suggestions?

Have you installed Dell Quickset? You need that driver to make it works.

Not for eject. The eject key works even when in the BIOS, where no OS or drivers are loaded.

Exactly the same situation for me. A couple of months after I got my 1645, the eject key stopped working. Re-installing the Dell Quickset got it working again. The OP might also want to open MSCONFIG and check the start items. Quickset needs to be enabled in the startup list there.

Well, if you call Dell tech support, they will say the same thing like I just said. The eject function needs Dell Quickset to function. Call Dell before you come back and talk to me.

It's possible that Windows requires it then, but try it out yourself. Insert a CD, go into the BIOS menu, and hit the eject key. It will still eject. No windows, no drivers.

Do you install Quickset on your laptop? If you do, you need the driver. Under BIOS menu is different environment from when you load under Windows.

Computer hardware works differently between BIOS and Windows.
