I was thinking about getting a Studio XPS 13". Two questions:

Did they ever fix the issue with have just one heat vent which exhausts on the bottome edge of the LCD screen?

Is the palm rest area plastic or some kind of metal?

    1. If you're talking about heat issues, majority have been fixed with the latest bios. Otherwise if you're talking about the LCD covering the vent, it doesn't and never has. The LCD only deflects the air.

    2. The palm rest area is glossy plastic.

For the palm rest area, is it the same glossy plastic as the non-xps Studio laptop line?

Doesn't that discolor the bottom edge of the LCD with the heat deflecting on it?

I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and I see no problems.. The heat never goes above 50C for me.. the laptop can get warm if you have it on for a long time. THe left hand rest gets warmer than the right

The issue with the display stopping and/or deflecting hot air coming out of the notebook has been solved (or at least attempted to be solved) with a new vent on the SXPS 16. If you're worried, it's possible that they may have replaced the vent on the SXPS 13 as well or that you can go and find this new vent on your own time.
