    Hi All,
I am just about to receive my XPS17 today from Dell, and would you believe it,I received a 25% discount voucher from Dell, this would have saved me over €200.00.
Could I ring Dell C/S and tell them I want to return my unit, because I received this voucher and it would save me so much money,or would that be ill advised.i DO HAVE 7 DAYS to return without any reason,I think !!
Any advice on what to do.

Nah don't return it if your happy with your computer. I would call ASAP and ask if they can apply that 25% coupon to your current order. They have don't that in the past.

If they don't THEN explain you'll need to return it so as to get your 25% off on your order. If the first rep says NO call again several times. If no luck then box it up and request an RMA.

I have seen coupons applied at the RMA request although they send you back to sales to get it applied.

    Update!!
Dell's rep got back to me and informed me that I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if they want me to return the unit I have just received, and to reorder the same system with the 25% discount voucher,to me it is an no brainer ,if Dell wants me to return the system I have no problem with that, but it does seem counter productive from Dell's point if they want to too return and reorder the same system.
    We wait and see.

You could also refuse delivery of the package to achieve the same thing and reorder....

Receive the laptop today, just had a wee look at the screen, and was really happy with it.
In fact the whole unit was just perfect, except for a few small scuff marks on the lid.
Can always use this if they get snappy about returning it.

    Update !!
Dell C/S have just got back to me,and said that they will accept the voucher on another order, but that I will only get 80% cost of the system I will be returning  as it have no faults will the unit,it has very small scratches on the lid,but they do not bother me,they are very small ,have told the Dell rep that the only cost I should have to pay was for shipping, which is €20.00.
He said he will get back to me within the hour.
    Any advice welcome.

Call up dell returns and tell them you want to reorder another laptop. Tell them you will only order if they waive all costs minus shipping. Get them to give you an authorization # that verifies you talked with them and they agreed. Don't tell them about the coupon. Change one item on the order to not be suspicous. Then reorder with the new coupon.

In order for this to work you must order the new system before they will accept your return, and it makes sense from their point of view. I did this when changing from my L501x (I had just received) to my L502x (that just came out) and had no problems, although I didn't get no coupon and paid $1800 for a laptop that dell now sells for $1500. Kinda the other way around, huh?

Thanks all,for all your feedback,it is people like yourselves that make this the best Computer forum around.

Dell have come back to me,and have asked me to return the laptop I receive, and then reorder another system, were I can use my voucher.
The only cost to me on the first one was the shipping back cost €20.00
so I am happy with that.
Second system have now be reordered with a €235.00 difference in price from my first system,"same specs" it was well worth sending the first one back.

Well done! You have made yourself €235 better off. I wish I had the opportunity. I believe it is a matter of luck these days. By the way, if you want, you could actually argue your way out of paying £20 for your first unit even though it is stated on their website that consumers are liable to pay the charges. I did argue my case but that was a different matter because I have received the wrong information when I've made the order through the telephone.

This is my second system to be returning to Del,returned my first one because of the 900 screen.
The Dell rep did say he would try and wave the shipping cost if he could.
