So yesterday I was doing Windows update. Restarted my computer. Came up with Windows failed to start. I'm like . So I put in my Windows CD to repair. Went good. So I checked to make sure everything was okay. It was. So I started up WoW, cause me and my brother play together. About 5 mins into the game, it freezes. The mouse moves, but nothing else responds. Alt ctrl del didn't work. The windows button didn't work. The power button didn't even work. So I had to unplug from the wall and take the battery out. Put everything back together. Started up. Did it again. Repeated the process over again. Did this about 4 times. Then everything was normal. But then out of the blue I wanted to see how much RAM this laptop can hold. I know most likely the 4GB that came with it but wanted to check. It detected 2GB of RAM. I'm like . Checked that information about your computer and said 2GB. Maybe it was just something messed up. Check CPU-Z and fair enough, it only detected 2GB of RAM. Even Windows task manager detects 2GB of RAM. What happened to my other 2GB of RAM? I had 4GB in it yesterday. And now I only have 2GB. And no I never touched the sticks inside the laptop itself. It seems after I got the Windows failed to start this has happened. Anyone know what has caused this? This is very strange.

The failure could have corrupted your RAM I suppose. I'd try reseating the sticks.

I did what you said and one of the sticks was almost out of itself slot. What would have caused that? It was in the same spot the whole this had happened.

    Could be:

    A) that it wasn't seated properly originally and/or

    B) excessive heat caused it to shift.

    -or my favorite reason...

    C) COMPUTER GREMLINS!!!

Quit playing horsey with the computer, obviously. Also it could be that the connector is faulty. Make sure that when reseated that the side holders are firm.
