Although I have an Asus G73SW-XA1 as my laptop, that model does not come with Blu-ray and only has a 1 year warranty. The amazon.com price was $1399 delivered.
Dell has on sale right now (via coupons) this particular laptop:
XPS 17 (1600x900 res.)
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
2nd gen. i5-2520m (2.5-3.2GHz)
6GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Nvidia GT550m 1GB DDR3 GPU with Optimus
Blu-ray/DVD combo
JBL 2.1 audio with SB X-Fi
Backlit keyboard
500GB 7200rpm HDD
*3 year full coverage/accidental damage warranty*
Delivered price: $1,152.35
Is it worth sending the Asus back to get this XPS? Mine would be used for light gaming, open office, music composition, internet, email and watching movies.
How is the XPS as far as heat issues?
Does the heat exhaust blow out of the bottom, sides or back?
How is the construction and durability of the XPS 17?
Thanks for your input!

My XPS is solidly built, no problems that I couldn't fix on my own so far. Heat really isn't a problem, especially if you have a the 9-cell battery. The vent is on the left side and it works fairly well, though it can get a bit loud at times.
