I recently purchased a 3D video camera, and I'm wondering if Dell has any plans to release a laptop with a 3D screen in the nearest future.

I do lots of video editing, and after owning my XPS 16 for 1.5 years, I'm more than happy with its performance. The only thing that I'd like to get now is a new 3D screen :)

The XPS 17 has a 3D screen option. With Sandy Bridge and the whole 9 yards.

The new L1702X has a 1080p 3D screen. It's pretty nice, it seems almost as vibrant as the RGBLED one both you and I have but without the slight yellow tinge, so you won't be dissapointed.

Given that you do video editing, I think the colours would probably be more accurate and the screen would be easier to calibrate than the RGBLED too.

Awesome, thanks so much, both of you :) I was out of the loop, and totally missed the announcement. Now I know what to get myself for Christmas :)

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking! :)

Gee, I might have to wait a little longer than.

I'll miss my current XPS' ravishing good looks (especially the leather trim!), but I guess I have to remember that it's what's inside that counts!

Yea don't wait if you want to buy now. Even if it was coming out this winter. I just wasn't sure if you were actually looking now, go for it if you are!

Ivy bridge was never scheduled to be launched in 2011. And by saying it's delayed till march '12 in that context is wrong as well. It was scheduled for Jan'12 original and got pushed back to march.

Sandy Bridge just came out in Jan'11. You really expected ivy to be out within the same year? Intel has never done that. Each tick/tock gets at least one year.

Yes, there is usually a year between, but this time Intel reversed the normal order by releasing the consumer stuff first, enterprise second. Perhaps that is why their roadmaps originally had Sandy Bridge in Q1 '11 and Ivy Bridge in Q4 '11. I've seen said roadmaps, it was the original plan.
