Hi I am looking at the:

XPS 1330 (all 3 batteries available)

    XPS 1530 (6-cell and 9-cell available)

And I am wondering is there a physical difference in size between the batteries? For example does getting one of the larger batteries make the laptop more bulky such as does it stick out of the back etc?

Or does the laptop look exactly the same regardless of battery but obviously just heavier? And does anybody know the difference in weight between them?

    Thanks guys.

I think the 9-cell would lift the notebook up to an angle, which is actually not a bad thing.

It's just that on the 15" XPS you can get the 9-cell battery for the same price as the 6-cell battery.

On the 13" the 6-cell costs an extra £45 over the 4-cell.

I really want the 13" XPS but the cost is too much and I think the 8400GS is the best gfx card you can get for it?

Greg, loving the Yodaguin. (You've now removed the avatar and made my comment look bizarre!)

The 9 Cell is the only battery that affects the notebooks shape in terms of both the hand, bag and desk. The 6's sit flush. The 4's don't serve much of a purpose, and yes weight increases with each.

My opinion would be just to buy two 6's if battery life and form are of equal importance.

I know you can't get the 4-cell on the 15" which is definitely a good thing as it would be drained in no time if you were running anything bigger than 13" with a dedicated card too lol.

Tempted to go for the 15" XPS with the 8600M GT and 6-Cell battery. I read some reviews on the dell site that said the 9-cell was great for a year but then it wouldn't hold a charge hardly at all. 6-Cell should be a nice medium aswell and will as you say fit flush

    Hey there!

I have both the 6cell and 9cell on my 1530...The 9cell is nice..it's elevated in the back and allows for ventilation underneath, and also (for me) gives me an easier typing surface on the keyboard! I also like it, because it doesnt sit *flat* in my *lap* when I am typing. :) ;)

The 1530 does not look *heavier* with the 9cell, just a bit elevated ;) :) And, I don't feel it makes it look *bulky* either!

The 6 cell is *flat* compared to the 9 cell...I use that when out-and-about, it works good...but I really prefer the 9 cell. ;) :)

Just some thoughts for you. ;) :)

    Cin' ;) :)

1530 does not look heavier, but it does feel heavier compared to 6-cell which feels light as a feather with LED screen. If you get one with LED screen, it does help shave off 100 grams.

Appearance-wise, they both look great. I prefer the 6cell though just because it feels featherlight.

9-cell feel better for a tabletop setting.

Ahhh i'm so close to ordering but can't decide between 6-Cell and 9-Cell for the M1530.

The 6-Cell delays the system by 8 days, but I can't figure out if I want the 9-cell to get it quicker or because I need that extra battery life..lol.

What I mean above is i'm not sure if the delay is influencing my decision when it shouldn't.

The one I get is the one i'm going to have to stick with because they are quite expensive to buy on their own (£124 and £184 for the 6 and 9). I wish somebody could post pics of the 1530 with the 9-cell so I can see how it lifts up??

Thanks for the pics! Looks like on the M1530 the 9-cell looks much better. I don't like it on the 13" much, looks fine on the 15" though i'd say.

On the DELL UK site the upgrade to the 9-cell battery is Free anyway, you just get the choice between the two for no extra cost. Want to know the silly thing?

If you order the 6-cell seperately it has a 5-7 day delivery time but if you order the 9-cell seperately it takes 3+ weeks...I would have thought its the other way round if the 6-cell is in such short supply...

To buy the 9-cell seperate costs £60 more, so getting it for free with the laptop instead of the 6-cell may be an alright thing. Looks like it sits pretty flush on the 1530 too, just raises the back.
