I've heard a lot about the 64bit Windows Vista versions.
I ordered a Dell XPS M1530 today with:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 cache)
    4096MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048]
NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated graphic memory
    320GB (5.400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English

Do you think my system will benefit from upgrading to 64bit Vista, or will it worsen it? And is it even possible on Home Premium?

Also, what exactly does 64bit improve?

    Thanks,,

Your system would be fine with a 64 bit OS. In fact, it is the only way your notebook will use all of your 4GB of RAM. 32 Bit OS will only use about 3.2GB of the 4. 64-bit Vista can improve speed and performance on your machine in many tasks. You many not notice the improvement drastically, but it is worth the upgrade if you are able to find all of the 64 bit drivers for your laptop. I like to think of using a 64 bit OS as being good simply because your processor is 64-bit capable, so might as well use an Operating System that will take advantage of it all.
