Hey guys,
I made the huge mistake of purchasing my XPS-15 with the 720p LCD. Too much time has passed to return, so I purchased a 23" 1080p monitor and figured I would just use this so I could get the 1080p display I was looking for.
I just received the display and hooked it up with the 1080p HDMI cable, and it doesn't allow me to run anything better than 1366 x 768. There is no way I can get 1080p on a monitor using this system?I don't understand, I know the system can handle the video demands, this blows.
Sorry about the rant, just very dissapointed and frustrated. Any information would be great.
Thanks,
Erick

Press f1 or fn+f1 and choose projector only, then you change the resolution to 1920x1080. It should work this way, are you trying to use both screens at the same time?

Yea you should be able to run FHD on an external without a problem. Even in dual screen extended mode, but do as zjacobss says and try just single monitor only at first. Then go for gold if you want

I had an HP DM1 netbook 1366x768 running a 24" Dell LCD at 1920x1080 just fine. Does your monitor come with a driver? It sounded funny to me but my Dell LCD came with one. You should easily be able to push 1920x1080 with that.

The 1920x1080 monitor will work with the above method,
but if you want you can always buy a cheaper, easier-to-find non-B+RGLED 1080p display, then order the FHD display cable and install it. There are some great LG screens available.
720p XPS 15, hooked up to 1080p monitor...
