I have ac adapter (90w PA-10 Family) 3 pin.
When i put my xps in sleep mode with adapter pluged in.
It Making a noise!!! like beeee BEEEP beee BEEP (some electrical noise) (its like it beeps more loud when the blue light on xps lights...)
I really hate it when i sleep!!
Is this normal?! Does any one have the same problem?![]()
-
-
But this noise only when xps in sleep mode...
It's not so Loud just like electricity sound. very very low.
OR it shouldn't make any noise at all??
can some one test??????? -
Please someone can put your ear to ur Ac adapter (And Put Windows in sleeping mode) and listen is there any sound or no.
I tried to pull off battery nothing changed ... IN SLEEP MODE it steel make sound when the blue light lights on notebook it makes a little bit more sound then again the same the same the same....
in hibernate mode or when shouted down or when unplugged ALL QUIET!!!
Please do this and reply if some one hear some sound form adapter ! in sleep mode..
: ) waiting!!!! -
One more now when im on battery!!! (unplugged) It makes a noise!!! and if i get closer there i hear like beeps beeps...... beeps (again like electricity) and they a really loud WHAT THAT COULD BE?!!!! with 9 cell battery i didn't heard them!!
In bios says that battery performing normal
OMG I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO?! the FU**** NOISE FROM AC ADAPTER WHEN SLEEPING MODE AND NOW I JUST TRIED TO UNPLUG it AND THE BATTERY NOISE!!! WT*?!
Do i need replace my ac adapter or my battery too?!!!! xps like .... (SH**T) -
I discovered new thing about battery when i turn on my web cam the electricity sound is gone when i turn it off it starting again annoying?!
What that could be? motherboard?? Cuz i tried unplug battery at all and i heard a little bit of this sound there.
OMG im only one who hear those sounds?!?!?!!?
N.B!!! the second discover when i use Balanced mode or save power the strange noise is goign away
When i select high performance i hear it again ?!!! SOME ONE COULD DESCRIBE WHAT THAT?!!!!
ADD:
ALL this noises i hear ONLY WHEN WINDOWS LOADED!! IN BIOS all ok
Maybe this is all normal and the power adapter or battery Generating the electricity that i need ?? or using???

Just calm down. As long as it isnt causing your notebook to fail it'll be fine
-
But it really loud Peeps 15 minutes work like... in factory...
PeepsPeepsPeeps and its continuing
You really find it's normal?! cuz i can't seat all time in balanced mode with 20% of brightness (i don't talk about sleeping mode problem with ac)
I can't believe that's im one who have those problems :S
Im completely confused i started to discharge my battery and u know what on 44% left the noise completely gone...
and on 42% it's started again my head gonna blow... :X -
Can you be more specific about this 'noise'? I'm having a hard time determining whether you're talking about CPU whine, power supply whine, or something else altogether.
1. All switching power supplies (like the one for your notebook) create a faint, high pitched whining that should only be audible with your ear right next to the adapter.
2. If you hear this noise while using battery (with PSU disconnected), then it's not the PSU. It then could be the power distribution circuit on the motherboard itself.
Try disconnecting your battery (while running on the PSU of course) just to see if the whine is eliminated. A faulty battery can place a constant load on the power distribution circuit, and may cause whine. Do you notice any problems with the battery charging?
I suspect that you are talking about CPU whine. It's going to be worse in Vista than in XP if this is what you are talking about. Furthermore, if you are talking about CPU whine, the only way that I know of to reduce it is to use 'RMclock' and undervolt.
Please help us by giving a better description of this noise. -
slowdown thanks for information ok i will describe better.
PROBLEMS:
1) As you said ear right next to the adapter. (NO I hear it about 1.5meters away it's really annoying i have a lot of firends with other nooteboks hp IBM etc. They don't have this problem. So as you see it's really sounds LOUD). the eclectic noise, when i put ear i hear much louder it. As i described it it happens only when i put vista in sleeping mode.
2) I tried to unplug battery and put it in sleep mode. But the AC Adapter still make the same LOUD noise even with out battery i repeat ONLY IN SLEEP MODE!! (VISTA).
And especialy the sound from the ac adpater getting louder when on notebook the power Led is blinking blink beep ... blink beep... but when it's not blinking its of course make the same noise... but lower..
N.B. When battery charge in sleep mode There no noise!!!
That's all about sleep mode noise from AC adapter...
-------
Now about noise when im on battery.
As u said it could be the power distribution circuit on the motherboard itself.
Because i said that when i use different mode (balanced or turning camera on the noise is going away. In bios i don't hear at all... only in windows. yes and the sound coming from where is battery but little bit lower of it...
If i understand the noise on battery is (motherboard power distribution.... etc..) And this nois only could be reduce by undervolt (which i really don't wont to do.) But this all means that all is OK? and i don't need to be woired much about this sound (electric).
And everyone hear it or only i? BECAUSE now im seating first time so long on battery and my ears and head a blowing up from this noise!! It sound like beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee beeeeeeeeeeeeeee beeep beeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeee all time omg... i thing for this notebook that's a ****
And the noise from sleeping mode the thing i don't understand what to do with it...
---
U aksed about battery charging there is no problems with that. But one when it reaches about 94% of charging the (LED) starts blinking every 8 seconds but before 90% it always showing...NOT BLINKING at all. just showing that charging is this ok?
And when charging THE sound can be heard too but it's much lower!!! than all those problems i have. And without battery i hear this noise! But not so loud...
CONCLUSION:
1) hear sound in sleep mode really loud. With battery or without...
2) Only hear (motherboard LOUD ANNOYING SOUND) described that it can be reduced by modes or web cam... WHEN ON BATTERY!
2 things that's Really ANNOYING AND MAKING A REALLY ELECTRIC LOUD NOISE!!! TERRIBLE...
THAT'S ALL what i have been tested or found!!!
SO please some one help... AND IMPORATN THING BEFORE 6 CELL i had completely new 9 CELL all those problems WERE with it and still with 6 cell SO THE PROBLEMS ARE NOT WITH BATTERY!!!!
IT could be AC ADAPTER OR MOTHER BOARD OR BOTH?! i really don't understand u must read this POST and see that in both i have problems... (AND even i tried to unplug all USBs... etcnothing)
STILL annoys memy ac adapter made in china ... are all they made there (cuz my both batteries were made in Japan
-
Ok after reading that, could you possibly guess at the frequency of the sound? IE - is it high (5khz or higher), does it pulse (kind of like morse code), or is it constant?
When you say 'beep' are you meaning like the system speaker beep (like when something is not right)?
I am still thinking CPU whine. If it is CPU whine then only undervolting will do anything to help. But be not affraid - undervolting is painless and effective.
I am concerned about how you state the power LED blinks in sync with the noise. That doesn't sound normal at all. I don't ever see that behavior on my M1530. Maybe someone else can hekp us with some input on that. -
thanks for ur helping
So the sound frequency i cant really record it but (it's loud in electric way its more like annoyingyes in both ways in sleep mode its like a Morse.
No its not beep its electronic noise thzzzzzz thzzzzzz like that i cant explain it
THE LED it's when sleeping mode yes when i put my ear closer i hear that (Morse sound ) and it changing when the Led blinks (in a sync yes)
And the noise from AC is much louder than mother board ...
CPU maybe we try? have u msn or ?! -
I'm at work trying to wrap something up. I'll get back on these boards around 8:00 -9:00 pm tonight.
-
OK, it sounds like you are talking about CPU whine and it is caused by the way that the Core2 Duo CPU's have a dynamic power state (in short this means the way that the CPU can switch it's FID and VID so that the CPU does not run full blast unless it has hard work to accomplish).
But it seems from your posts that it is exceptionally loud in your case. I wonder if something is making it louder than it should be. Without knowing this it becomes increasingly difficult to help you with this.
Maybe it would help if you measure your CPU and GPU temperatures. At least that way we'll know if you have heat issues or not. A heat issue could very well be connected to your problems.
And by all means, if you can record the sound and attach an mpeg audio file (I think you can attach audio?) it would be most helpful. -
OK i wil do 2 things. record 2 videos
First when it's in sleep mode (AC adapter)
Second one With battery (unpluged AC)
And about heat No i tested recently video card cpu etc... on Heat all temperatures are OK that's good!
Tomorrow i will post them. -
ok here is the sound when im on batter (listen betwen 35-50sec.)
http://rapidshare.com/files/180902010/noiseonbattery.wma.html -
Here is the second (10sec starts) Listen careful on background u will hear the noise (not system) but more likely low Whistle (i cant record better but if get closer it sound like Morse...
http://rapidshare.com/files/180903066/Untitled__3_.wma.html
If u hear that sound the same sound i hear form ac adapter (sleep mode when battery charged or unplugged or plugged...)
But much louder and the sync between blue led... -
Call _DELL and ask for a replacement power adapter, maybe something is wrong, like a bad capacitor or something.
-
After listening to the clips, I am certain that you are listening to 'CPU whine'.
And I could tell that you had the gain jacked up high on that microphone so it doesn't sound louder than normal, or at least not to me it doesn't.
I know of three things that you can do:
1. Use RMclock and undervolt. This is very effective.
2. Use XP instead of Vista. Vista is louder than XP with this problem.
3. Chat with or call Dell and begin the torture that is Dell customer service, in the hopes that you will get a replacement system board.
The only reason you would want a replacement system board is because their is a very slight chance that an inductor on the board has loosened and is resonating, which would amplify the sound of the whine.
This is not likely but I think it's possible.
I took options 1 and 2 and I don't even notice the whine anymore.
Replacing the power adapter will not do anything to resolve this. -
Yesterday i went sleep and the noise where beeeps in my head :S...
I can't sleep anymore with (sleep mode)
I put it it hibernate mode and the sound still but not so loud. BUT of course it's annoyed. I unplugged this cable from nb... and leave it on battery and all ok.
--------
So the problem with adapter as i see is cuz the vista??? and core 2 duo?
RM clock how can i udrevolt :/ this is dangerous? :S
And after RMclock if all will still the same? i have to call dell right? (tell about AC adapter and motherboard)
----
Ok now how can i get work with rmclock ;/ -
-
i said that is ac apadter not nb.
HEY ALLReally appreciate ur help!!! but found this!!!
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165029
OMG i cant believe it!!! RESOLVED RESOLVED \
1) I disabled the C4 modeSILENCE SILENCE!!!
But want to know about it. Is it danger?! Will i burn or damage my CPU or motherboard? What does it do in two words..?
and one more do i need disable popup/popdown method.
Because i didn't tried to turn them off cuz C4 disable helped a lot. Do i need turn off them??
BUT! The sleeping mode still make noise (AC ADAPTER!!!)
I saw i this program a setting called
Enable enh. Deeper sleep (C4E) maybe this is why in sleeping mode the ac adapter generating this noise?
AND im really worried about the health of cpu (with disabled C4)...
So 1 problem resolved. Remains one more with AC adpater. =((((
yeah and all temps are ok surfing net music cpu 36-37 and video card all ok...!
yeah about chagrin battery is it okey when the % reaches 95 maybe the LED of charging starts blink every 8 seconds but not all time if battery has less than 90% or smth it always show iti think this is normal right?
And on 99% it stucks :S
----
2) ADD...
http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=3516
I write about do i need etc. popmode...
So do i need do this or leave C4 disabled.. only
-----
3) One more http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=3516
When i only disabled this mode (C4) I saw in monitor that my CPU Load on battery always at 60-58%
But when i tried do all what said in this link! my CPU started work like it should without C4 disabled.
SO i think to use THIS LINK. Because it saves battery life and more healthy for CPU right? so wich i need to chose disable c4 only or do like it done in this link( and cpu working much better with link) -
Ok the last post if someone read i appreciate it.
But now i defenetely know what to do i will do like all said in "3)"
1) CPU NOISE RESOLVED http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=3516
-This was CPU Whine...
2) AC ADAPTER NOISE continuous !! NOT RESOLVED
So i have only 1 problem This problem i really want resolve to! Waiting FOR UR HELP!!!
P.S. Battery working properly 99% gone after 10 minutes or smth like that ! -
It is the most effective way to combat CPU whine at a software level.
But instead of just disabling C4, you should try to undervolt instead. Undervolting will solve your problem without altering your performance. It will also buy you between 7c and 10c of temperature reduction.
One other possibility is the power distribution circuit on the board itself. One way to get the answer here is:
1. Run it without battery. Does the PSU squeal stop?
2. Run it on the battery and use a stopwatch to time how long it lasts. Try to run for 1.5 hours. Post your results. -
1) The noise from PSU only in sleep mode and hibernate (hibernate mode it sounds a little bit lower) WITH battery or without it! (2 new battery's tested 6 cell and 9 cell). (And if i charge battery in sleep mode the PSU don't nake noise but wehn battery 100% it's starting again NOISE!!!)
2) how long it lasts.??? AGAIN with battery smth wrong i can't believe the gave me *** battery The LED is blnking every 10 seconds Not showing all time even it on 80% only charged That's not normal right?
Should i bring back this battery!? PSU doesn't make any noise when its charging
and Rmclock all settings will be restored to default if i reinstall windows right?
OMG STUCK PIXEL!!! BLUE !!! DELL I LOVE U 10000% problems with this notebook!!! OMG... i cant believe it i bought pc for a RESOLVE PROBLEMS OR?! STUCK PIXEL tired software tried to pressure NOTHING NOTHING WORKS!!!
I really want to know can i replace my LCD I SEE THIS BLUE STUCK PIXEL!!!! (will they replace it)
AND MY battery its probably smth wrong with it
And of course the AC adapter...
Maybe i just need to call and say all about my problems. Cuz i have a warranty? do they replace those things??? -
I would contact Dell. But I recommend using the chat instead of phone. I would also type up everything that you want to tell them before hand, copy and paste it. It will give them a chance to see your entire case at once.
Be descriptive and methodical in explaining your troubleshooting. As long as you remain calm and polite they normally will send you a tech to replace hardware.
You just have too many things going wrong here and yes, either the battery is bad, the PSU is bad, or the charging circuit on the board is bad. That isn't normal behavior for the battery. And the pixel problem is definitely something that they have to respond to. Before you contact, 2 more things:
1. What bios revision do you have?
2. How long ago did you purchase this? If this is within 21 days of invoice, I would send the entire unit back and request replacement. -
1) A12
i bought it on 7 of december
Dell policy says that 1-6 pixels is normal. More than 6they will rpelace :/
30 minutes All tired watched vidoes etc... (stuck pixel) nothing helped... Enough for me... *****
Tomorrow i call (cuz im in europe) them!!! and the plastic (case of notebook in some places like it was bumped down and up omg...) DELL -
Man I feel really bad for you. You just got a lemon and you've had it 31 days. Do the online chat tech support and get them to solve this issue with the battery. Just remember to be thorough with what you tell them. They have to correct that at least.
As for the screen, that really blows that Dell will allow 6 dead pixels before replacement. If I were you I might be thinking of another reason to tell them you want the LCD replaced. What LCD do you have?
You can look in device manager-monitors-Plug and Play Monitor-Details-Hardware IDs like this screenshot:Attached Files:

-
See how mine is LPLDF00? That is an LG. We should determine what yours is.
-
One more very important thing - I would flash bios back to A09. I tested 3 or 4 bios revisions. This one runs the fans the best and some people report strange issues to disappear when they use A09 also.
-
yes my LG the same A09 which strange issues :SS?
-
Well I saw that some reported that the power adapter wasn't being correctly recognized, and something about the battery charging. That is why I thought it might be a good idea to try A09. I run A09 on my M1530 because it was a really go bios revision. Fans kick on 5c earlier with A09 and help to keep the heat down. It may also help with your battery problem.
It's worth trying.
I can't believe that you got an LG with a bad pixel. Try the bios first and see if it helps anything. -
So i will live with it
? pixel
-
A09 didn't help
So tomorrow i call them
either the battery is bad, the PSU is bad, or the charging circuit on the board is bad.
and say that. But what to do with PIXEL i will say that i have problem with it maybe they will do smth...
