Just wondering how thick the thermal pad is as I want to replace it with a better performing one when I stick in my 950 pro.

    Thanks in advance.

I guess you know what you're doing, but do you really want to put an SSD that has 1.6W idle consumption into a laptop that already has mediocre battery life?

Yes, I have an 18 month old 9530 that has 8% battery wear (it came with 3%) as it is plugged in 99% of the time. This is a lounge laptop, plugged in under the sofa I sit on. It has probably seen the kitchen 4 times so I could use the recipe on the screen and has been on holiday 4 times. I don't think I have ever used a full battery!

My main games rig see's most of the action and I have an older i5 medion laptop for "other stuff" that may cause damage such as working on the car or outside :)

basically I didn't buy this for the battery life.

I measured mine as about 1.8mm, see here.

Someone recently used 2mm to lower their 950 PRO temps. See here (first post) and a post farther down here.

According to post, temps went from 63C under load without a pad to 39C with a 2mm 3.2w/m-K pad. You could compare to see if it's even worth it to replace the pad.

Yeah 2mm thick is what I needed. Taking the laptop case back off shows that it's the perfect thickness (just barely indented). I don't think you could get away with anything thinner.

Could anyone please link to an appropriate pad I could buy? (Adding a 950 Pro to Precision 5510.) Thank you.

I have some, not used it yet as I am waiting on a replacement. The SSD doesn't need better than the stock one, this was earmarked for the RAM but one pack won't be enough!

I think I will liberate both pads from the 2 laptops sat waiting to go back :)
