Can anyone recommened me which of the two to get, It's a $200.00 bump for the GTX's and I don't see if there's really a huge advantage. Anyone have the GTX's or GT's in SLI pls help me with my choice! Also anyone can post their scores pls! Thanks!

Using it for extreme gaming! Can't wait til the new Bioshock 2 comes out. Wanna see if I can Maxx all settings! Also I just want to be gaming for the next 2-3 years! Dell is selling them for a great price now and I'm going to get one by the end of this month!

From the benchmarks of crysis, GTX beats GT with 50% performance increase.

Yeah, darn me and my timing, but I did already bought it with the 9800MGT in SLI, After some research, the 9800MGT seems to be a more superior card, as far as dollars for performance goes! Also it's 10 watts less, maybe I'll shed 15-20 mins on battery time. For $200.00 less and dell, don't even offer anymore must mean something. I personally think that, the 9800MGTX in SLI would have lots of heat issues with the M1730 and the battery life would be horrible, if to say 20-30mins only! Though I can't comfirmed this cause I don't even have one yet, I could be wrong.

You could have also got 88m as 98m is just the replica of 98m. Not much difference in those.

    Isn't the 8800GTX uses PCI-E X16 1.0 vs the 9800GT is PCI-E x16 2.0? But yes your'e right I coulde've save myself $$$ if I choose that route!

I'm not sure if gpureview is all that accurate, I use this for laptop cards: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

The 9800M GT SLI setup scores a flat 14000 in 3Dmark06 and the 8800M GTX sli setup scores 12184. I think the only thing that is the same between them is the number of shaders (96). The reason I would upgrade to the 9800M GTX if given the option is the number of shaders (112), but looking at the benchmarks on this site the 9800M GTX sli only scored 12719 (they were having problems with the card? Maybe thats why dell doesn't offer them anymore).

88m is more than enough and cheap from 98m gt. Also the only thing that matters more is the no of shaders which are same in both cards. So, if you beat 98m gt with a slight overclock.

Notebookcheck's benches aren't exactly the most reliable one. To acheve 14000, they used newer driver, as well as desktop quad core CPU. Because 3Dmark06 is highly sensitive to CPU power, this comparison isn't fair.

Where the scrore of 12000 was done with dual core intel T7700 @ 2.4 Ghz+old dell drivers from back when 8800m GTX sli came out for M1730. Beside, members here on this forum have got 14k+ with 8800m GTX sli.

I doubt there is really much difference between 9800m GT and GTX in real time, to justify hundred quids worth of premium. That said, if you can get it as a cheap upgrade, then why not?

Looking at the dell site the 9800M GT is only $100 more than the 88, I ordered my M1730 a couple days ago and I got the 98. Now I just have to wait 3 weeks to get my monster, I'm dying inside :(

I read somewhere that the 9800M GT is cooler than the 8800M GTX, so you could get more out of OCing it no?
