The wait's driving me mad, I wish I had more things to do than stare at my order status page or call the auto line.

Also, thanks for the thread Cin.

And I'm sure the lucky ones who already received their orders are probably too busy installing Windows 3.11 and trying to get their wireless drivers working so they can post at NBR!!

Once I get mine I'm going to install Windows 7 on it right away because Vista would be a waste of power and speed!

I don't know if you know this yet or not, but if you install Windows 7 beta, then you have until August 2009 to either upgrade to genuine for whatever price, or uninstall it. If the deadline passes then you lose access to your PC and lose all saved programs and documents on your hard drive. When I tried to install windows 7 this is the warning that they gave me, i don't know about the upgrade with purchase part but they should allow that when the time comes (thats assuming that the full version of windows 7 is out by august, if not then you have to back up everything into an external hard drive and go back to vista)

Let's see so pictures, including nude shots with the bottom off. And I want to know what new owners think of the ATI M86XT (aka 3670) compared to the more common nvidia mobile GPUs. And if it happens to be socketed ...

I would be wary of that....W7 is still a beta. There's a reason why it's called a Beta. I'm dual booting with WinXP/W7 on my main HTPC and I'm already having issues trying to get 5.1 out of HDMI thru my receiver. There are some minor issues with media center that I'm trying to iron out (maybe a bug or maybe not).

Feel free to install it if u want....I work in IT and I do a lot of UATing for my company so I have a paranoid mentality :D

The packaging of the laptop was sweet, kind of like a mac... Also, Dell did cheap out on the software as all I got was MS Works CD and a card saying to download all drivers and reinstallation cds at some Dell Downloads site.

Yeah, that's true. I have windows 7 on my tablet though and it has behaved so much better than Vista so far. I've had it since the first day the beta came out. I plan on upgrading to windows 7 right away so the August deadline isn't that stressful. I'm sure they'll have other betas too that have end dates that are closer to the release date of the actual product--at least that's how Vista was.

I'm kind of upset at the size of the power adapter so far. It looks like the ones they used to package with all their laptops a few years ago. I thought they moved on to greener pastures and started using smaller ones. I just hope the 1340 has a small one like the 1330.

Does the RGB screen look "off" after using a ccfl or wled screen for a long time?
I bet it's beautiful [especially if you get a desktop with a lot of deep reds and oranges ]

I've used a ccfl, wled, and now a rgb screen. And yep, this screen blows the others out of the water. I just changed the background to some widescreen "red" flower picture that came with Vista, and it looks like you said, beautiful.

I am uploading a couple of pics with a CD, water bottle, and a bottle of AXE as a comparison.

The facial recognition system was disabled when I got the system and I have not enabled it yet.

EDIT: I am installing Windows 7 now.

Hi all... First timer on NBR! Been following you guys on the other 13/16 Studio thread.

My 1340 is still in production, (after they discarded a previous order for who knows why, delaying my inevitable shipment date) but I'm really looking forward to it! (I've even blogged about it in a recent post at http://netchick.net hehe)

I howled at the AXE photo :) Thanks for posting these!

I have to wonder why Dell didn't consider creating a nicer power adaptor (like the new adamo?) for this premium machine. That's a crazy brick!

Looking forward to trading more messages!

    Cheers,
    Tanya (aka Netchick)

I just wanted to let people know that I think that the order status is inaccurate, because I just got a email saying that my order has been shipped, and the order status say that it's still in production lol.

Bwt, I'm from Canada and ordered it on the 15th, next time I'll just wait for that email, not very reliable lol

The Order Status will always say *in production* until it changes to shipped..You will probs see that info in the am.

And, you will also prob's see a tracking number! If not, you can always call Dell and they can verbally give it to you.

But isn't it strange that it didn't even go into the kitting or boxing stage?

I have heard people saying that I'm in boxing stage

Mine was just in the assembly

Oh no, now I'm scared  It doesn't have a Vista reinstall CD? I won't be able to use it until I get one (which would wreck my 21 day return period if I have to somehow call and wait for one to ship).

Do you meant that they actually somehow have Vista as a DOWNLOAD on Dell's site? If so, is it an image you burn to DVD somehow, and otherwise it functions just like how Dell used to always include pretty much a clean OS CD?

I think Dell stopped showing those stages a few years back. Mine stayed in production until ship. When i said mine was in boxing was when i would use the call in line to check the status there it said boxing and then shipping then the web site was updated.

Also i found my tracking number by going to the invoice link on the status page once it shipped. I still dont have it on the status page but it was right there on the invoice and now it is sitting in the Fed Ex building in Reno.

It is a 1640. Tried getting them to give me a link to download PowerDVD as it did not come with a CD for that.....but told me they had to talk to the right department and get back to me.

Did you get a blu ray drive? I had issues getting Blu Rays to run earlier before I wiped it.
