Aaah, I thought you were referring to the linky I gave you for the free I9, with purchase of a 1530...LOL
It's ok, no worries about the name! The LED will cost more than the LCD..![]()
It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is with Dell![]()
And, it is ok to take your time deciding what you really want!![]()

Was this the screen that was grainy? -
Hi All,
I went crazy after seeing this deal at BB. Does anyone know what LCD's come along with the XPS M1530 sold by BB, are they LG or Samsung. Going thru the forums mostly the Grainy issue has been prominent with the Samsung LCD's.
Since I dont have much time left in US (1 week), this is the best deal that I found for XPS, but after hearing that it has the grainy screen issue, i'm confused now.....do not have much options left i guess. I just had a question, is the Grainy screen issue very prompt from the very begining or is it that develops in due course of time?
The latest DELL.COM can ship the laptop is 22nd as of today. Not sure if there is any other place I could order.
Hey l0lxdr0fl,
Did you get the laptop replaced from BB and how is the new LCD?
Are they LG or Samsung? -
im not sure how best buy works but i am guessing it would all be random. All the screens are 1280x800 but its probably random which make it is, you could probably go there and look at the display one at least and find out for that.

Hi Face_Jones,
Ohh k, i just thought it would all be the same make. Leaving for BB now, will check and update the forum on this....
Will be back.......... -
In Device Manager expand Monitors and double-click on Generic PnP Monitor. Click on the Details Tab and change the Property box to Hardware Ids.
You can write down the information it gives, and check the stickied thread at the top of this forum *Top Ten Questons* when you return (unless you can access the net there), sometimes you can..(it lists all the brand monitors via what was in Hardware Id's - in the thread)...
Here's the thread:

A BB sales rep should be able to help you with this!
Good luck,

Hi Cin,
Thanks a lot for the help. Was about to leave and saw this post.
Leaving for BB. Will let you know.... -
Hi Cin,
Just came back from BB, man was really a complete disappointment.
/////**FIRST**//////
Went to the DELL laptop section at BB and checked for the Make of the screen, but under the Hardware ID's it just showed "Default Monitor". Under some other ID's section the value was : PNP09FF. Not sure what that meant, cant find this value in the website.
/////**SECOND**//////
Got hold of the Laptop executive over there and asked him about the Make of the screen and he had absolutely no idea. But he highlighted one fact which was really interesting.
"Every 1 out of 3 DELL laptops are being returned at BB"
Not sure how far this is true.
So after all this I'm back to square one and need to weigh my options, as I would not have the option to return in case anything goes wrong. I'll be leaving US next weekend.
Please advice, do I go with this one or look at some other options. -
yea i wouldnt expect anyone there to know anything about the computers, BB people are really not smart when it comes to the stuff they are selling. Im surprised he told u 1 in 3 are being returned, not saying it isnt true but that may have cost him a sale lol.

That's the reason I titled the whole session as a "Complete Disappointment".
I almost saw myself own a DELL XPS M1530, but am in all thoughts and need some advice, whether to go for it or look for other options, if later then which one's???? -
Unfortunately I agree 1000% Usually at BB I think there are very few people who are really excited about laptops, and I think the training must be very limited for them. Some things I have been told were so far off base it was kind of scarey. -
But, if your looking for something other than the 1530..this part of the forum is also very helpful...Once you fill out the FAQ and post, you will get input from peep's who own other brands/models of laptops!
