I am thinking of purchasing the i7/Ati 5730 model to use mainly for gaming and school. Is there anyone experiencing throttling issues with this model? Even with the BIOS updates and 130W AC adapter?

yes, the problem continues to exist and becomes more severe while gaming or running benchmark tests. :(

Thank you, I really wanted this laptop but that problem is a real deal-breaker. Do you know of any comparable laptops that will be good for gaming and school?

The heating is the only issue for me. A good equivalent is the ASUS N series. I was considering that but the XPS just looked so much nicer but now i regret it...

You're not the only one...mind you I don't believe ANY of the ASUS notebooks less than 18.4" have native 1080p OR Blu-Ray...as a matter of fact I think D3ll is the only one aside from the HP envy which is like $500 more (but looks like it has a half decent cooling system, an XPS/Macbook Pro hybrid if you will).

I just finished COD WaW and MW2 and Prince of Persia Forgotten sands... All at max resolutions and everything else at max except AA which is x2 (never tried x4 actually). I didn't have any throttling nor temperatures above 79 degrees. COD WaW had a problem with scenes were smoke was covering the screen, the game lagged a bit, MW2 didn't have that problem with rain + smoke... I will be starting Crysis Warhead soon and we'll see...
