am I an idiot or does this thing not fit right? I would think it would slide all the way in the groove and plug in, but it only goes halfway and is very easy to come unplugged. Am I doing something wrong?

NO! You are not an *idiot*...It should go in all the way and fit securely into the socket...it should not go in half way...or should it be loose at all!

This is the one problem I had with my 1530....sorry...The adapter became loose from the socket and therefore it would not hold a *charge*

I had to have a On-Site Service Technician come and replace the Motherboard... After that, things have been nearly perfect.

I also had Dell bring me another *brick* and adapter cord...just to make sure all was good with both, once repaired.

    Cin ;) :)

Halfway is not the way, IMO.. You should try again or ask for a replacement or a tech in house call.

As for the 'very easy to come unplugged', it might be because its just halfway in..

But I must tell you that even with the proper fully plugged in config, there is a little bit of movement, which I figured out is by design.. apparently when u trip over or something, its just the cord which comes out of the laptop and doesn't drag the whole PC off the table or whatever.. So thats nothing to worry about I guess..
