    Try disabling AHCI via BIOS

have you cheacked out this thread yet? Follow the instructions word-to-word, and you'll have it up and running in no time. :)

The same instructions, for the XPS 1530, is on this page. Check out post #84.
Pay careful attention to this line in particular (in post #84). I kept getting BSOD'd cause i didnt select it properly!

If you need any help further, feel free to post back. oh and welcome to NBR! :D
    Cheers!

"when i slipstreamed the drivers into my xppro disk, they failed."

You have to get this right. As arjunned pointed out it is apparently possible to do after the fact, but I'm thinking why torture yourself. If you get the correct Intel storage driver slipstreamed this should be easy to do upon install. It's just way easier to enable AHCI before installation.

Note: I would swear that I slipstreamed the Intel SATA AND the Intel chipset drivers. Maybe that is why you failed the first time. Try that and see if it works. And also, when you slipstream the SATA drivers choose ALL of the drivers in the INF file. Are you using "nLite" to do this? If not, I would if I were you. That's what I used for my M1530 and it made things very easy.

Edit: You are using the Intel storage driver for the GM965/PM965/GL960 chip correct?
Here is a good guide for using nLite to do this:

Thank you arj and slowdown, thanks to you guys i now have ahci working on xp and a streamlined xp disk :) i see that my problem was that i did not install the chip set and i had only the primary IDE devices and after i clicked have disk and selected the inf file that i did not choose the right driver as i thoguht they would all be installed. thanks again for the help. another question though, is there a way to get windows xp to recgonize my wpa2 personal wireless connection? and if i were to get a new hard drive, how would i back up my recovery partition and MBR so that i can restore factory image on the drive?
