I want to install mediadirect on my xps 1530. I want to follow this http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=157838
But I have a question before beginning.
This paragraph : AHCI Concerns: On new Dell systems, they are set up to run in AHCI mode which will give you a 15% system performance boost. In many instances, the AHCI driver MUST be installed during the initial installation process for the installation to work. Those not installing it are finding that their system may BSOD or hang during the installation and saying "Completing Installation Process". One must find the driver specific to their system either on the drivers disk that came with their laptop or at www.Dell.com in the drivers section. Download and expand it to a USB drive or disk; the USB is preferred but it is important that you expand it on the media you just saved it to. Once done, put it aside for now.
In bios It was set to sata, I have vista sp1, and when I change to AHCI i get the 'BSOD'.
For the method depicted in the thread I have to change to AHCI?
If so from where do I get the drivers AHCI?On dell site I can not seem to find it.
And another thing. i do not have the mediadirect for xps m1530, but I have mediadirect 3.3 for xps m1330, it will work on my xps 1530? if no from where can \I get the proper version

The problem is that AHCI wasnt enabled when you installed Vista (next time set it to AHCI first) and therefore the drivers were not loaded from the install disk. There is a way to fix the issue. Here is a link on how to install the AHCI from within windows, restart, enable AHCI and have it load windows.
As for the meadia direct CD, I would think the disk from an M1330 would work. Just note that when you install the Media Direct, you are supposed to do it before windows install since it needs to format the HDD and put the media direct partiton on it. So the disk will format the HDD (erasing your windows install), then allow you to install the OS. After the OS is installed, you can then install the media direct software.
So if you go this route, just enable AHCI in bios before hand. -
Just one question : I downloaded Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager for that link you gived me, but when I try to execute the exe file i get an error: 'This computer does not meet he minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit.'
xps m1530, core 2duo t5550, 1,83ghz, 3gbram, 160hdd, 8600gt 256 mb.
Is not that important, because i will change in bios the to AHCI and instal the vista....but in case something goes wrong....could vista ask fot the AHCI drivers on installation?because i do not have it.
