I noticed the new CCC was out 11.2 and so I uninstalled CCC removed my drivers and ran the installer and it installed everything but installing the ATI Display Driver failed.

Any reason why it won't successfully install it? I restarted my laptop but it doesn't seem to have affected anything and acts as if it did install.

But then again I'm not the greatest with this.

    Dell SXPS 1645
A12 BIOS (was on A09 but Dell upgraded it when I sent it in for water damage)

Are you sure downloaded the Mobility drivers? They are completely different than the desktop drivers.

You also may have the purge ATi values in the registry (make sure you back it up first).

Yeah I know not to download Desktop drivers. haha.

I have upgraded my drivers multiple times flawlessly and have only ever had problems when 11.2 was released.

I installed 11.2 Catalyst drivers on an Alienware M9750 with Mobility 3870 in CF no problems. The 11.2 drivers unzipped itself, and downloaded the files via FTP. I tend to find official ATi drivers don't always work with branded OS.

11.2 installed without a hiccup for me. Not sure what to suggest. When I have driver problems, I sometimes like to do the following:

    -reboot
-remove old drivers (or new drivers that are causing problems)
    -reboot
-install new drivers (hope by the magic luck of computers that it works this time)
    -reboot

Not always a sure fire solution, but I find that sometimes a fresh remove and reinstall with generous amounts of rebooting can solve a lot of problems.

That's what I did. I mean it seems that my laptop is working fine as I haven't noticed any issues or display glitches or anything. So I don't know. haha.

And now all of my games just crash whenever I try to run them..problem :(

Maybe I'll just do a system restore to yesterday when everything was working great.

not sure why you are removing the drivers when updating them, the installer is designed to do a in place upgrade.

been doing IT for 10 years and never uninstall a driver unless theres an issue.

Well, he is having an issue, which is why I recommended uninstalling the old drivers before installing the new ones. Everyone has a different experience with computers, and while driver packages have gotten better recently, the old ATi catalyst packages have been notorious for needing to be uninstalled before being updated.
