Hey there,
Bought an XPS m1530, it arrived yesterday, I have to use XP for my work side of things and downloaded and used all the drivers from this forum to do so (thanks for that). Everything is working a treat and I love using this machine BUT it also came with an AVERTV Hybrid Nano Express card which unfortunately is not working.
According to the AverTV site I need to use the special DELL drivers to get it working but they only work in Vista so no luck there. However using the AVERTV drivers the card appears in the hardware devices with no conflicts and by all accounts seems to be ok but the AVERTV media center software cannot find the card and comes up with 'device is not ready' in the AVERTV Panel.... SO anyone come across this issue? any tricks? any access to beta drivers?
cheers,
Captain Benno

Did you get it to work? Is it good?
-
No I couldn't get it to work. I emailed the support guys a few times at Aver and they were unable to give me any more info but to say that it is unsupported and that they couldn't help me or give me any test drivers etc.... So is it good? no, it sucks arse.

You should probably contact XPS Tech Support on this, if you can't get a easy fix for it! Seeing it is brand new and all!

Did it work with the aver tv software in vista? I am wondering because I had read somewhere that it only worked with media center, I just wanted to confirm this as I might be buying an xps 1530 with this card in it.

Don't have any previous experience with that model tuner but updated Fiji build of Vista Media Center is now avail and offers better tuner support including clearQAM... -
*Off Topic
How does the tv card perform? is the cable connector weak and loose? (i know its pretty darn thin). Reason I ask is that I had a well performing usb tuner but the cable that connects came off and it no longer functions. I believe someone else had the same problems on amazon.com reviews. I also read that this nano card experiences NO LAG when hooking up a gaming console which is a killing selling point for me.
Vista also does not support on the fly switching between analog and cable through media so is there another program that avermedia supplies with the card? -
You can try this trick. Download Dell driver from Dell and install. Then download the latest driver from Avermedia and install. I love watch HD TV on this laptops. The images are so sharp. -

^^ i have a question for you (or anyone who uses that expresscard tuner)..
do u know whether it has hardware decoder onboard? .... and does your CPU go up to like 40-60% when watching digital channels?
i have an analog PCI tuner on my desktop with hardware decoder, so watching TV is a breeze with my Pentium 4... but im also looking at a USB TV Tuner for my m1330, and those tend NOT to have onboard decoder, meaning the CPU runs like 40-60% trying to decode digital channels, and i dont really want that
