I recently received my 1330 with the avertv tuner. Of course the first thing I did was to reformat and install Vista Ultimate, but I can't seem to get the tuner working now. I installed the drivers from the dell support site, and the tuner shows up and working fine in the device manager, however, media center does not see it. I also found a diagnostic tool in the folder where the drivers installed, but it also shows that it can't find the tuner. Anyone else run into this or have any advice?

Would this be something that i should go to dell for support for, or will i have to contact avermedia directly?

I am having the exact same problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 running Vista 32-bit. I haev downloaded the drivers from dell support, but the Avermedia application cannot find the card. Was on the phone w/dell support for a while, but they could not resolve. I have a request into Avermedia directly to see if there are different drivers or a different application that will work. Any suggestions would be helpful...thanks!

What did dell have you do, out of curiosity? I have tried the dell drivers and the avermedia drivers with no luck. I have also tried it with the avermedia media center program. I have another identical laptop here that hasn't been reformatted and still has the original install of vista home premium on it, as well as the factory shipped install for the tuner, and i can plug this card into there and it works just fine. All the driver versions are the same and everything. I can't imagine that it's just not compatible with ultimate...

Dell was not able to do anything. They suggested talking to Customer Support and see about a refund. I ended up contacting AverMedia directly and here is what I got:

Please kindly go to http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=429&SI=true&tab=APDriver to download the corresponding driver for your device to properly work. After installation, please kindly go to "Sound, video and game controllers" in device manager to see if the device has been successfully installed or not. For your information, this device can only work under the MCE application.

Bottom line is the TV portion (coax cable) of the card works using Media Center. I was not able to get the RCA or s-video plugs to work, so a video camera od something like that won't work.

I've reinstalled windows xp on my XPS m1330 laptop. I've also downloaded the drivers from the above mentioned website. However, avermedia player does not detect any tuner cards.... under device manager it says that the tv tuner card has been installed properly so I don't know why it can't be detected or found when trying to watch tv. Any ideas?

Same problem. Dell XPS 1330, AverTV nanoexpress, vista 32bit.

Device manager registers card. I've tried several drivers and reinstalled vista.

Also my integrated webcam and an express card docking station (targus) are not being recognised despite extensive tinkering including a dell techy replacing the mother board.

    No joy yet.

my problem...which may be exactly what is stated above...is once everything was successfully setup I had no averprogram to watch tv on and media center made no indication that it recognized the device. I kno dell users aren't supposed to use the avertv application because it overrides media center. anyone find a solution to this?

    PARTIAL ANSWER and another QUESTION

    Hello everybody!!
    This is what I've found!!
After spending almost 6 hours with the people of Dell (by phone) they don't have any clue about this problem, actually their answer, according to their data sheet is, "the tvcard is not capable to receive anythig but air analogic signal", which is a complete lie!!! I even talked with a GOLD suppport service, just imagine!!! This means that the support center of dell is terrible!! Do not waste you time with Dell's support center (for this case, what so ever!)

So I conntact with the people of avermedia and they gave me some interesting solutions which I tested.

First I compare the avertv driver with the dell driver (experimentally), and the one that you have to use is the dell's. If you use the other one (avemedia), you will probably have some problems, shutdowns and things like that (blue screen!!!).

The problem of using that driver (dell) is that the avertv software will not detect the tvcard, neither AVerMedia Center nor AverTV, even when the AverQuick detects the card (the icon turns yellow!!). Apparently this is a problem caused by the way that the bios (A08 or A10) of Dell handles the pci express interrupts!!. The other problem is that this dell's driver (seems like HELL's driver :) ) only works for some Inspiron models, and XPS models, and only for Wvista Home premium or Ultimate, 32 and 64 bits, so if you have Vista Bussines or other model of Dell YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. DEll should release drivers for all laptops!!!

Some tips of the avertv support is to check if you are not using (installed)some special codecs or some specific software, just like:

    -Quick Time de Apple
    -Codepack elisoft
    -codepack KLITE
    -bsplayer pro
    -Nero Vision
    -Nimo Codec Pack
    -XP Codec Pack
    -Pinnacle studio 9
-Other Codec Pack ("All in one", "SLD CODEC PACK").
It seems that this sort of software grabs the tvcard and do not allow any other software to work whit it.

Presuming that you don't use any of that sowftware, then the next solution is to use the Cyberlik PowerCinema 5 or other similar software!!

I just used Powercinema and everything works great!! You can download the trial version and tested!

Actually, that software detects the card and allows you to receive all signals: air analogic, cable analogic, air HDTV, cable HDTV, supervideo, composite video. This is something that Dell's support center said "not possible".

So that is a partial solution :) , but, this solution does not work for all laptops!

I tested in two laptops one XPS M1530 3Gb ram GeForce6600 WVista Home Premium 32bits with Win-MCE and works!

The other, a Dell Precision M6300 4G ram Nvidia Quadro FX1600m WVista Bussines 64bits No Win-MCE and this is what I got:

The Power Cinema detects the card, and also identify the card as an hybrid one, allows you to configure the analogic(NTSC -- air, cable) and the digital (ATSC, air, cable)signals, but when you try to detect the channels, only detect the analogic ones, and when you try to wach them, only a green lines appears! I read some where that there's a problem with the avertv card and 4 gb ram! so I think this may be the problem, I hope some day the avertv solves it. Mean while, I don't know what to do :(.

I hope that this info helps somebody, and if you find a solution for the M6300 problem please post it!!!

Sorry for the really bad english!!! Hope you get the main picture!!!

The one thing we all have in common in this situation is windows XP. I refuse to install Media Center Edition just to use the card. On the other hand, even though Avermedia's software did not work, I downloaded a trial for SageTV, which actually finds, and works with the card, but does not support digital OTA signals. If you are using a cable connection, it works great. I don't know if this is the answer you guys wanted, but it does work. www sagetv com

I FOUND THE RIGHT DRIVERS FOR XP (non media center)! I went to "system integrator" on avermedia's site and clicked expresscard, then hc82 analog and atsc, then the ap & driver tab, and found a completely different driver than all of the other pages, at the bottom. Uninstall all other avermedia drivers before installing this driver, then install the new one, get the regular MediaCenter from the regular support site, choose custom and uncheck "driver" on the media center installer, and when that installer is done, when you run media center for the first time, you should get the wizard to set up your channels on both analog and digital. I did, and I'm running XP without media center. Good luck!

This card is a complete waste. I ordered one with my wife's penryn based m1530 (I have a pre-penryn m1530 courtesy of my employer). I have found exactly two applications that will even think about working with this card - ChrisTV and MediaPortal v1.0 RC2.

ChrisTV seems to work the best but I don't feel like buying it. MediaPortal is FOSS but it constantly hangs my system (and sometimes BSOD). I'm not sure if it's the card drivers or MediaPortal really. All I really wanted to do with this thing is capture some video of my TV.

I am not trying to question your integrity or anything, so please don't take any offense, but I'm rather hesitant to purchase any more Aver products after my experience with this HC82 from Dell. Do you have experience with this card?

Hi all .. I am having the exact same problem now. My Nano ATSC card is working well with Media Center before I format the computer. After that I downloaded the driver through dell website, installed and my laptop recognized the card but Media Center doesn't. :'(

Is that any solution to this problem? I would really appreciate if someone help me out.

    Thanks a lot all!
