So unfortunately they are no longer offering the SSD option however Dell is running their end of quarter deals so its time to get me a new laptop. I am in love with the Studio XPS 16 however I just want to make sure I make the right decisions. I am only using this system for Internet, email, downloading, and as a stand alone Blu-Ray player. I was thinking the P8600 will be more than enough power, with 4GB of ram and the 7200RPM drive. But I do want to know if the RGB LED is worth the upgrade cost for my basic needs? Also, on the cover options does anyone know the difference between the high gloss finish versus the leather? I didn't know Dell made this system without the leather strip. Can someone confirm? And also, I am concerned about the display because the regular 1080p display says 15.6 inch display and RGB says 16 inch so i am a bit confused there. So i need help!!!! Please!!!

a normal 1080p display is a little smaller, the rgbled is "fullsize" for the laptop.

I doubt you "need" the RGBLED, but if you have the exta $, go for it.

I think the RGB display is what makes the 1640 so appealing.

There is no other competition out there for it so I'd say it IS a must have :)
