If you got a system in the outlet very cheap and then put this in, it could be worth it. But you can add one new with the "better" option for $50.

When i orderd it form dell the blu ray was 300 extra as an option but if ur like me and alredy have your system this is the cheapest way to get blu ray some one her posted that dell wanted 380 for a refurbished drive and the only other place i found was at newegg for 300

as for the 1340 it should work try to find what model they use in the 1340 if it the same as this one download the firmware from dell site if its not the same model get the firmware from sony most drives are the same size and shape just take the mounting brackets off the old drive and put them on the new one it will fit also u will need new software as the power dvd that came with yours wont play blu ray i got power dvd 9 ultra works great
