Hey everybody, I've searched the forum and found a service diagram on installing the bluetooth card into the M1530 notebook. My question is, I never choose to have it put in by dell, so I know I need to purchase the card and I'm going to guess that the cable will need to be purchased aswell.

I seached the forum and found a few answers but didn't look like many people have done this themselves.

Has anybody done this themselves here on the forum?

I would have thought the cables are already there as they tend to be built into the lid / casing but I guess nothing is 100%. Best thing to do before buying a card would be to open it up and check.

    Your service manual is H E R E

My M1530 BT card is a "Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth +EDR". I have seen them on E-bay for $10.

The cable is probably already there. Use the service manual (linked above) to open it up a little bit and you should see the cable. As I recall, the BT card goes on the upper left from the top side and you only have to remove the battery, 3 screws and the control cover to get to it.

It should take you less than a minute to see if the cable is there.

One question, I've seen the 355, 365 and 370 cards on dells web site.

For example, would this work in the m1530?

2.4 GHz Wireless 370 Bluetooth 2.1 Mini-Card for Select Dell Latitude / Studio / Alienware Laptops / Precision Mobile WorkStations

It seems that the bluetooth cards just attach to the unit with 1 screw, and then the cable.

The 355 attaches the way shown in the manual.

The 370 does not. It is a mini-card that has to go into a PCI slot.
