Right now I have a Raid 0 setup in my M1730.
Can I put in an SSD and a 1TB HD in replace of the Raid setup?
Thanks

Hi, yes you can. If you install the OS in the SSD put it on port 0.

Just turn off the RAID before changing the drives around.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
As it's been stated yes. I would highly recommend setting your SATA operation into AHCI mode. Leaving it in RAID mode is okay too, you may need the RAID drivers for Windows installer to see the drive. Also you want to delete the array beforehand. Also realize the only 1 TB 9.5mm drives on the market today are 5400 rpm.

well if u have SSD as boot drive then u don't really need a 7200RPM drive for your data storage. As high density platters in these 1tb drives will make up for sequential speeds, so even @5400RPM these drive will be pretty close to 7200RPM ones. As for as lower random performance goes... i guess it won't matter much for a storage drive.(correct me if i am wrong)
Here is CDM result from my new Samsung 2.5 1TB 9.5mm
Adding an SSD to the M1730
