I'm hoping to receive my M1730 today which has a 160gig hd with vista. I purchased 320gig hd which I want to add to the laptop. Is it just a case of adding the new hd in the vacant bay and connecting the the sata cable tothe new hd or do I have to do some RAID configuration, coz I ain't got a clue if thats the case. I've been watching someone do this on youtube but neither hd had an OS on, so I don't know if this matters.

You won't be able to do any RAID configuration with 2 different sized drives. Just plug it in an it will appear as another hard drive in Windows! That's it!

Do you know if all M1730 are raid compatable if so i'll get another hd? Also does the hd have to exactly identical or is it just the size and the rpm that have to match?

Cheers Ajbeagles, one last question - will there a major noticable difference between me just installing a second hd or is it worth getting 2 hd extactly the same and doing a RAID0? I can pick up a second 320gig hd tomorrow at Bow compter fair from the same guy!
