1440.23 with tax.
Good deal?
I was going to get the SSD drive but it was quite pricey and figured I could upgrade once they come down in price.
-
-
Thats an awsome deal, call them to see if you can squeez more.
I got the:
Blue T8300
250GB 5400RPM
8600GT
2GB RAM
BLUETOOTH
9 CELL BATTERY
FOR £700.00 = 1400.00 US OR CANADIAN. (GET THE 9 CELL IF NOT TOO EXPENSIVE)
That is missing your 7200rpm hdd and the blu-ray drive. -

r u using the 30% Off in Dell HOME USA?
-
Yeah, that sounds a tad bit costly for that config. I wonder if your EPP deal outweighs the new 30% off coupon. Probably not.
-
specs look pretty nice. =)
u could stick with the 250GB 5k HD to save a little bit of money. u could find 200GB 7k HD's for around $100 now. -
yea 30% coupon worked.
EPP was pretty horrible with this config.
Is there an addtionaly discount with DPA? -
Yeah, but its really not worth it.
-
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
no 7200rpm, but with 4GB ram and intel-n card ... i guess ur config is better if u got 4 yr warranty
-
Paper Wastage. Your deal stinks unless you post a link with that screenshot of yours. I know you posted it for one of your other posts with this screenshot in it, but seriously... you need to post a link to this particular configuration in your signature or something besides linking to slickdeals or saying "Dell EPP has the best" when the large majority of people can't even find this particular config of yours.
Include a direct link to the config page in every post you make with this screenshot or related to EPP beats 30% off. Or include it in your sig.
Otherwise, its useless. -
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
it is in my sig for a long time.... think i should up the font size and color
and i linked to slickdeals because you actually have to do a couple of things to get that deal... 1) get 5% coupon, 2) go to dell epp site 3) other discounts like DPA or buy 2 for 12% off instead of 8%..... i've edited my post @ slickdeals to make it clearer...
think i should get a mod to make it a sticky in the dell xps forum -
I thought Vista only used 3GB of ram...is 4 even worth it?
-
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
3-3.5GB in 32bit... 4GB in 64bit
unless u get an option to choose 3GB or 4GBfor $50 more( and get 3GB).... some configs only allow u to choose 4GB
i would choose 3GB if i had a choice... save $50 ....... -
-
Is hard drive noise really as loud as the review says?
That alone may make it worth getting a SSD drive. -
It depends on the drive you get. The 250gb 7200rpm drive by Samsung that came with my M1530 is dead silent, no noise, no ticking whatsoever.
The 160GB 7200rpm drive that your ordering will be a Seagate Momentus as thats the brand Dell uses for their 160GB 7200rpm drives. It is also a very quiet drive. -
Ok good you made me feel better!!
-
My deal is in my sig. 4GB of RAM and 250GB 5400 HD are the only differences I see, plus I got three year in home warranty and three year theft and accidental damage protection plus Photoshop and Premiere elements for $1467.12 so I wold consider my deal better than yours. Now you said $1440.23 with tax. Was that actually with tax or plus tax?
-
Isnt that paper_wastage's deal......? Yes it is!
-
Yeah it started out as his deal but since I added the Blu-ray drive etc, and went over $1600 I got 12% off instead of only 8% off. Also we were having a problem applying the 4% off for using the Dell card so the guy finally just gave me $50 which is the most he said he could apply. My 4% off should have actually been like $58 or something so I actually lost $8. I was so tired of screwing with it I said fine.
-
I couldn't find any Canadian coupons for mine, oh well, still got 121$ off. haha

Lets see the differences with the build I got:
Mine is Blue - worth $25 more
4GB RAM - worth at least $50 more
Mine is DVD - worth $200 less
I have Intel N - worth $50 more
I have a 3 year standard/accidental damage/lo jack - worth up to $300 more, but only if you want it
for $1207, so you decide -
let me play with the EPP again. -
-
hmm, well, i have one configured as well...
its not blue, has no bluray, but it has a 9 cell, and 4yr parts/home, theft & accidental, which gives $70 giftcard, with office student, and a 4-in-1 printer...
and it comes to 1527 tax included... -
Done!

Final Price with Tax & Discounts and everything = $1,452.29
I added the N Card and up to 4GB.
Oh and also knocked the processor down a bit..doubt I see a difference between 2.4 and 2.1 -
I think I am going to order the M1530 on Friday, unless a better deal comes along on something else, or Dell releases some mind blowing new laptop. 8600m gt, T8100, 2gb ram, 250gb HDD. $1019.

Bah!! Why so long! -
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
college students ordering them...... a month isnt that bad
-
It just shows how great Dell is being able to pull off many sales despite having not released any Montevina. If Dell is doing this well now, imagine how well they will do when they bust out Montevina notebooks!
-
My laptop is in production and the ship date is almost a month away.
I emailed customer care to ask if they can install 64 bit vista rather than 32 bit and they replied that they can't make changes once the order is placed.
Booo! option is probably not on the customize screen so that you are more likely to buy ultimate if you really want a 64 bit OS. -
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
@leetchie69........... dell doesnt install x64 in any XPS laptop right now
if u ordered ultimate/business, dell is obligated to send u a copy of x64 DVD if you call them.. for home premium, u have to call microsoft and pay shipping, or ask a friend for his retail x64 disc and use u r CD KEy under the laptop
its all DIY if u want x64 on ur XPS -
which is probably what i will end up doing....ton of ISO's out there.
