Wow, what is that stiff blue sponge they put on the Nvidia GPU in the 1530? It had to be atleast an inch thick and stiff and hard to the touch. I definitely think anyone who wants to game with this laptop should take that off immediately and replace it with a THIN spread of some thermal compound. I used to idle at like 50/65 and after replacing those blue sponges and not using a battery while plugged in my idle is 38/54 now, using my laptop cooling pad I see 38/50 idle temps.
Benchmarking wise I've set my clocks to 650/850 and never had a problem. A few hours of Doom 3 at those clocks puts my peak at 85 and steady around 80. I score a 6143 on 3dmark 06 (on the 1024x872 or w/e resolution)
Anyone that can elaborate, offer advice, tell me what there idles and benchmarks are would be very welcome.

Haven't opened my 1530 yet, so I don't know what you are referring to, but if you could post pics it would be appreciated.

Well I cant now, but other pictures show the stock blue sponges on the contact points, they're terrible. Way too thick! Also on my CPU contacts from the stock setup there was just way too much thermal compound.

If it's the same as the one in the m1330, it's a thermal cooling pad. Doesn't work too well, apparently, at least not on the m1330's, and might be the reason so many of them have been overheating recently. Anyways, sinstoic has written a guide for replacing that pad with a piece of copper, which apparently REALLY helps the heat. I don't doubt it'd work with the m1530, too.

By the way, an inch thick? Are you sure? The m1530 is only 1.38" at its thickest point, and that's if you factor in the case itself. -
Yeah, it was a foot long compared to what it should of been..definitely not an inch though.

wtf? a foot now? lol.
After a little tinkering...
