yes its def bad and if it was me i would not live with it BUT it can be worse.. the next one you get may be even worse or be grainy or have bad colors or etc etc etc.. so weigh the pluses and negs of swithing it.. im totally ocd about my panels and ive been through over 10 panels now.. and none are perfect...the ones i was getting from dell imo sucked so i simply bought my own..

I've got the same on mine - a lighter streak running across the bottom of the screen. I can only notice is if the screen is black. I didn't really think it was an issue at all until I spotted this post!

I would like ask aeveryone who could make a pic of his screen, to do it and post into this thread, just to be clear for everybody here what is acceptable and unacceptable screen, talking about backlight bleedeng only. Please, I appeal everyone! Thanks in advance!

My LG WXGA (1280 x 800) is almost look like yours. The LCD lamp is located at the bottom of the screen, so I think it’s normal that you will get bit backlight bleeding. For comparison, LG screen is a lot brighter than equivalent Samsung screen.
No doubt that there are LCDs (higher quality) that have zero bleeding such as Sony FZ.
As long you get non-grainy screen, you should be happy. -

u can send the pciture to dell and ask for their opinions.
this is a totally normal lcd screen, u need to go to comp stores more and check out the lcd screens. -
Believe me, I have goes to many stores and have seen many screens- this is NOT normal for mid to high range laptop screen to have such a big bleedeng. Of course, the lamp is at bottom, but the light leakage is not only there its across the screen in many times and positions on it. God, my 5 year ViewSonic VX24 doesnt has any kind of bleedeng, exept very thiny light leakage at bottom and one at top of the screen, where are positions of the two lamps, in the center is full black, which is absolutely normal screen for me.

Here is my screen. Seems to look a tad worse on camera.

If I go through the hassle of getting a replacement, what are the chances I'll get a worse screen? -
It's just similar like mine. From opinions I heard here it seems that the chance for worse display is not little...yours is LG, right?

Again for an LG WXGA+ XPS 1530 screen
