A few days ago i started experiencing lags on my system. If i type, the text lags. It lags searching web site and its just really slow and sluggish. Also, i have noticed when I restart sometimes I get a black screen with blinking cursor on the top left and Windows never loads so i have to keep turning the power off until Windows loads finally. What could this issue be? Its a Studio XPS 1647.

Sounds like something that loads at startup is causing a problem.

Did you install anything before this problem came up?

Have you checked your program manager to see if there is a process that is hogging the CPU?

Those are the two reasons I can think of atm.

And have you checked Task Manager to see if there was a process hogging the CPU?

Try downloading and running CCleaner, making it clean your computer and also the registry (to get rid of any unneeded entries there).

I would then advise to also download and run Spybot, to check for anything that should not be there.

Try what the others have said, also run the smart utility for your hard drive.
