searched all over these forums for the AHCI driver. People give me links that go to intel and an .exe file but no drivers. I spent the last 4 hours trying to get Vista Ultimate 64 installed and it just won't install. Now I am out of 300 bucks for purchasing Vista Ultimate 64 plus the money for this darn XPS M1330.. All i want is to get a 64 bit OS on this laptop... Well Guess I may sell it and get a Mac Book Pro..... Sure is too bad cuz I really like my XPS but it won't take a 64 bit install of Vista Ultimate. I have done everything on these forums to get it running and nothing. NOT FOR SALE I FOUND SOLUTION

I am sorry to hear about your experience, but there have been a bunch of threads and a grand thread on how to fix the AHCI issue. Did you search this forum?

EDIT: Look at Les' thread on installing 64-bit Vista on your m1330. I recall just a week ago, there was a thread on how to properly install the AHCI drivers. By the way, the drivers should be included with your Drivers and Utilities CD that came with the m1330. I will ty to search for the post.

I did that and the driver is no where to be found keeps going to intel for an executable file. I ask in the forums for the file for the driver. No one wants to give me the file. Very frustrating

The executable file will extract the driver files to the location you specify. You would then need to copy the files to your installation media.

I updated the Clean Install thread below and even provided a link on the first page for the AHCI file. Of course it is an executable file. One must start it to expand the files onto the medium you choose, most likely a usb or DVD.
