I have found a good alternative to Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager for my Mobile broadband connection. It's Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager. It's very simple and worked perfectly without any configuration.
I guess it will only work with the 5530 card, though.

Doesn't windows just do a good enough job itself?

I connect via my N95 8GB for mobile 3G on my laptop and you don't even need to use the Nokia PC suite. Vista handles it no problem.

I don't have built in mobile broadband so I could be wrong here, but it sounds like the Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager is just some useless bloatware like the dell network assistant you used to get on Inspirons.

I tried a couple of times to it set up as a dial-up connection, and it worked 1 or 2 times... but not anymore. I always get some error message. Something about PPP. I looked through the settings a billion times and I've done everything right. Anyway, I'm happy that I found this new wireless manager. It isn't slow like controlpoint and it isn't bloated.

I have a Dell E6500 with an Intel 5100 and am using the Intel PROSet manager from the Intel website - works great.
