Well I bit the bullet and ordered one. My 5 year old laptop calved about a week ago so I pretty much had to do something - and no time to wait for 17" 1080 screens etc. which is what I would have preferred.
I got the i7-740, 1080p, 8gig ram, N6300 wireless and backlit keyboard. I should be ok with this - seeing as I am heavy on the CAD stuff and don't game or watch movies much.
Will be a bit lighter to lug around than the old XPS beast I had too.
Cheers from the east coast of Canada,

Good stuff. I bought one too last night in the UK, just the basic XPS 15 i7 for the bargain price of £700, which is a lot less than the equivalent HP Envy over here (£1400) or other possibles like the MSI GX660 (£950).
I just went for the 720p screen as I dont particularly need a hi-res screen and will be playing the odd game, so having something that the 435M can drive without too much difficulty will help the frame rates. I'll hook up to an external monitor when I need a bit of screen real estate.
Dell says 12th November for mine. We'll see! -
Looks like you Brits are getting them cheaper and quicker than those of us out here in the coloniesMy ship date is 22Nov.
I am looking around at higher res monitors for mine for the home office - where I'll be doing some serious cad work. That could be as much torment as trying to select a new laptop.
Anyone have some recommendations as to a good external monitor for high end cad work with the xps 15? I can go with pretty much anything below 30". The U2711 looks sweet but at $1250 Cdn it's a bit of a rear-end-pucker price.
Another Canadian order in for an XPS 15 !
