im currently looking into one of these for school instead of a new MBP.
besides school, i do a lot of gaming, so i need the portability plus the power
does anyone know if there are any plans to upgrade the video card in the m1530 line anytime soon? the 256 8600 just doesnt seem like enough for me.
my current MBP has a 512 8600 in it, and i love it. it's just strictly for my studio and whatnot. i refuse to use it for school.
or should i just get another MBP and pay the extra grand? or wait it out? i have like 3 months or so till i desperately need one.
just wondering, thanks guys =D

I don't think Dell will upgrade the graphics card on the M1530 anytime soon, especially within a 3-month time period. It's been almost more than half a year and the graphics card has stayed stagnant at 8600 256MB on all available notebooks.
However, I don't know just how different it would be from your macbook pro having 512 MB. I reckon it wouldn't be "that much" different, but if you're really particular about visuals on games and graphic-work then you probably will notice it. I have another Asus F8Sn notebook which packs NVIDIA 9500M GS with 512MB, which is supposedly equivalent to an 8600 GT. However, based on experience, the FPS games I run on my 1530 (like BF2 and Fear) have smoother framerates in general, even if it only has 256MB.
But yeah...you might want to ask someone who has experience with an 8600 at 256 and at 8600 with 512 and who can really spot the difference.
Another XPS M1530 Thread... haha, help me =(
