Got it recently, and although DHL sucks, I am very happy with the laptop. A few issues, albeit somewhat minor

    1. No accessories.....boo. Not on my list of things to receive, but still, should I *****?
    2. LED changes way too much between the top 2 levels.
    3. Fingerprint reader application opener a bit slow.

Otherwise, it's awesome! Any suggestions would be great.

Another thing I'd love to get is powertoys calculator for vista, but not sure how to do that.

Congratulations. Have the following number ready to go: 1-800-822-8965. That's Dell Tech Support. You're going to need it when you discover a bunch more things to complain about.

Wow, pontine, you are a huge douchebag. Go crawl back into your hole.

As far as the clean install, I really haven't seen any bloatware, so I'm not sure what the point of the clean install would be.

How are things working with your lappy today??? ;)

I dont really think a clean install is necessary... and anyways, a "reformat" is also not a necessary or a must..

Probably you might think of doing it just in case u wanna keep you OS and Data on separate partitions... If you have an external backup habit, like me, I wouldn't worry much about this clean install thing... though the final choice is yours...

I haven't done the clean install, because Dell these days doesnt come with much bloatware or anything like that.

Just follow Les' wonderful sticky on windows forum and may be a few other threads to get in things you might need as basic essentials.. check the free software thread, as well as the free security software thread.. both in windows forum.... good luck and enjoy your system.

Well, you may not think you need to, but doing a disk cleanup, and removing the shadow copy files freed up a ton of space for me, i gained what , 20 some GB? Dont listen to pontine, he whines too much.

I have an external HD, and will never fill up my HD. Have Norton 360 for free, so no worries on that front.

So dont worry about clean installing n stuff right now... its quiet a hassle and *things might go wrong* with the drivers and such... *just might*.. but mostly they dont.. still I dont see a big life changing reason for the clean install.. enjoy your system as it is and tweak around Vista for better n quicker experinece like Les says.. good luck. and norton 360 is great :)

congrats on your m1530, I have only called dell about getting 64bit ultimate dvd, and to activate the broadband card. I have had this since feb. by far, best laptop i have owned. for sure get the accessories that you paid for. this forum and the dell forum are an abundance of info and help. They have dell support beat by a long shot. Not dogging dell but forum members actually know more than the dell support.

Not a nice comment when you don't even know me. Have you read some of my other posts to get to know me? Do you search for repeated patterns of behavior before you jump on someone and act like a douchebag?

It seems that in forums of these kinds, such as car forums, there's a lot of ego, pretense, pseudo intellect, and self-importance. It's ok to mix a little humor among the all the heavy seriousness and to lighten things up every now and then.

I haven't initiated a single negative interaction with anyone in here until young Mystik with the "really cool" avatar initiated with me.

Imdashep, let's cool it with the bravado and keep things nice, ok?
