    Hi guys. Dell xps 15 9550 4k

I called service cuz of speaker that vibrates shift lock key which makes bad noise at certain volume and frequencies, a technician came and replaced the speaker, shift lock key still vibrated and made noise.

I suggested to the technican that a keyboard replacement or somehow stiffen up the shift lock key would solve the problem, he said that he would call Dell support and they came back to me with this anwser:

    Answer from Dell:

"I heard the technician replaced the speakers and it helped a little bit with the vibration problem and together with one of our telephone agents the conclusion was that the computer is now working as intended.

I still hope that you are satisfied with our serivce, though it seems quality of the computermodel and its components not being the best." WTF?

Anyhow, anyone know a trick to stiffen up the shiftlock key so that it not vibrates?

And yes, Dell audio maxxsaudio bullish is turned off.

Call again in two weeks and Tell them that your Space Bar doesn't work anymore for some unknown reason.

Okay that may be a lie but, c'mon they lie on us all the time as you figured out recently.

Hey mine and some others 9550s have the speaker crackling/ popping problem when pressing certain keys too so you're not alone!

I've had my screen and speakers replaced but still the same. They offered to replace motherboard but I declined as it might cause new problems.

I didn't know that the shift-lock key was the cause of audio distortion - I'll look at that. I might be tempted to wedge a small piece of index card perpendicular to the key to see if that stops the sounds. If so you can just stop using the key.

My speakers and sound card were replaced for crackling noises, principally when adjusting screen brightness with f11 & f12 keys. There is distortion at certain frequencies when the volume is high.

The new speakers and soundcard made no improvement.

With the recently fixed audio drivers, the sound quality on the 9550 is pretty good for such a small laptop. You just can't listen at higher volumes or use the f11 & f12 keys to adjust brightness.

If I lay my finger on the shift lock key the audio is fine, I have no crackling or popping, so Im thinking about putting some padding under the key, some kind of foam, is the key removable or will it break?

Don't wait, call back and tell them to come and replace either the laptop, the keyboard or you will be starting procedures for a full refund, it isn't working as intended and you want to speak to the supervisor, failing that if he is not available the resolutions team.
Tell them you have had an independant inspection and as only 1 key vibrates it is quite simply put "defective"

    Never take sh!t from Dell.
