I have a problem that no matter what when i play black ops my video card locks up after maybe 15-20 minutes of playing but does not lock up playing other games such as Hon,l4d2,Bc2.

It locks up and the screen is just frozen i updated to 270 driver and a05 bios and still doing it. My temps seem fine i have it being monitored ,It never used to do this back when it was new so not sure happened.

I had the same issue happen on my L502X with the i7 2720qm and 540M nividia card.

It was only with world of warcraft game all my other high end graphic games, Rift, and others would never have any errors.

I am not sure that my situation is the same as yours but updating drivers did nothing only recently have I been able to play WoW for over 2+ hrs with no lock up.

The only thing I did differently was in my games video settings for some reasons (probably because of optimus and scanning the intergrated cpu graphics vs gpu that is not on 24/7) it was running with DX9 config so I manually changed the game setting to use DX11 which the Nvidia card can use. This alone upped my play time from originally 15-30 mins before a lock up to about 45 mins to 1 hr 15 mins tops.

But last week I discovered my Nvidia control panel was not set to 3D graphics options of "let application choose the settings" it was defaulted into the Graphics card choosing the settings. Once I updated that to default of letting the applications choose the settings well so far so good. No crashes even after a 2.5 hour raid running vent tabbing out to watch boss fights on firefox and everything.

Thats my experience not sure this is what is happening to you but thats what happend to me.

Try reverting to using the older Dell Nvidia Driver 26x.

    See if that crashes

I would also monitor your temperatures. Most motherboards will throttle the GPU to protect it.

My temps are fine i had gpu-z monitor them and i will try the older nvdia dell driver. This makes no sense since i literally can play HON for 4 hours straight no problems. although it is not as graphic intensive as black ops it should get pretty hot after that long of a period of time. So i can almost rule out overheating/ hardware failure.
