Any program to keep the battery level at about 40-50% on XPS M1330?

Hey guys, I am not going to be using the battery for a few months and would like to keep the battery level at about 40-50% to prolong its life. Is there any program out there that will do this like the Sony Vaio SZ's battery saver program. I want to keep it in the system as well because without it, the rubber stoppers at the bottom are uneven and causes the laptop to wobble.

You can adjust Vista's power settings under "Power Management" in either the control panel or right click on the power indicator on the bottom right and adjust the power options that way. You can't specify to keep the battery at 40-50% unfortunately, but you can save power and get the most out of every charge. :)

Oh yeah I am aware of that feature. I just wanted to know if I could keep it at a certain percentage while plugged in like the Sony Vaio SZ can. I was asking this because I am going to be plugged in for the next few months and want the battery at 40-50% to preserve the battery life. And I don't want to just drain the battery down to 50% and remove the battery because with the battery removed, the laptop wobbles.

I had no idea the Vaio SZ could prevent the battery from charging more than 40-50%. I've never heard of a laptop that would do that before. Does that really prolong the battery life?

Yeah it really helps for storage like say you are plugged in all the time. At 100% battery charge, the battery loses 20% permanently after a year but at 40%, the battery loses 2% permanently after a year at room temperature. And this is accelerated at an elevated temperature which laptop batteries are exposed to.

Check out this link to learn about the batteries inside the laptop.

Oh and there are several laptops that are able to limit the charge level like I said. Not just the SZ but also many other business oriented laptops.

if you're not going to use for months, best way is to let it go down to 40%, take battery out, and keep it in your fridge. keeping it plugged in means its sitting very close to your hot components and it will wear your battery. fridge temp is the best.

Yeah but then how do I solve the wobbling laptop issue. One of the rubber supports is on the battery in the corner. The battery in my M1330 feels cool to the touch when plugged in.
