Closer to December than July, but I will need to verify that. Once I hear back, I will post what I can.

It could be that Dell is unable to source a hugh quality screen that can meet the standards of the XPS sub-brand. I notice that in this size of latop basically only Macbook Pro and Sony Z have quality screens. All the rest are basically crap.

Maybe the LCD makers dont bother to make quality screens in this space unless the price offered to them is very high. Sony does charge a lot for the relatively low volume Z and Apple has very high economies of scale in this laptop because they make just one size and one screen offering, so maybe they are able to make it work that way.

Whereas in contrast maybe Dell cannot make the numbers work sufficiently to offer this screen, because they do so many variants. I think its wrong, as Apples approach lets them reap economies of scale from being more focused and leaner in product lines. But maybe that is the problem with regards to getting an XPS 13 refresh.

After using Dell notebooks for 10 years I guess I'm going to get the Sony Z.

I need a premium 13" laptop and just can't wait until December for Dell to get their act together. :(

I just went with the M11x-R2 for now and will look at the XPS 13 in the future.

Ya, now you may find the all-new xps series (xps 14, xps 15, xps 17) with Studio XPS line found to be completely stuck off the rolls of dell.

Actually I played around with an evaluation unit for a couple of days. Build quality seemed good to me. No keyboard flex. There was a wee bit of LCD flex, but it wasn't bad for a 17". The JBL speakers and woofer sounded great.

Bill, is there any word of an XPS 13 refresh? I really like the XPS 14, but the weight/dimensions are a bit high for my tastes.

A bit high? the XPS 14 is a 15'' laptop with a 14'' screen, and that thing is on the heavy side
