I ordered a XPS M1530 yesterday and in the HP area, (I own a problematic HP) they were saying that the XPS was having a lot of Screen problems? Do I need to worry now?

depends on which screen you get. I got lucky with a LG screen but I heard the Samsung screen is very grainy
-
I've had all LG screens on my Dells. I wouldn't even know what a grainy screen looks like. Most people don't until they start reading all the nitpicking posts on this forum!
-
To be fair it isn't all about graininess. My samsung had really bad viewing angles, unusable for the most part.

This is all the info I got when ordering:
LCD PANEL AND WEBCAM High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1440x900) & 2MP Camera -
So you don't know what they look like and you've never experienced one - anyone that has is a nitpicker. Brilliant. -
BTW, Samsung is very highly rated for LCD TV's so why the problem here? -
You won't know until they put it together and ship it. At that point, the service tag will link to all the parts on your laptop.
Even if it is the "dreaded" Samsung screen, try it out. If you don't see anything wrong with it, then its fine. If it is not fine to your liking, call XPS tech support. Tell them you want an LG screen because your whites are grainy and sparkly.
Tech support may or may not be able to order the LG. From peoples experiences posted on this board, Dell seems to be making this process less painful. If tech support can't order the part, ask them to transfer you to customer care. Say you want the LG screen or you may have to process a return. Don't be an a$$hole. If that doesn't work, try one or two more times with tech support. I am positive you will be successful.
I know doing this may seem like a pain, but the M1530 is such a great machine. It runs games really nice for how much it costs. I run COD4 and 1680x1050 with low to medium settings, can probably go a bit higher. I run WOW at 1680x1050 maxed at 60 FPS. Its quiet. Its nice looking. It feels solid without being too heavy. It is a great value for the money.
My process to get a LG screen was pretty painless. Others on here will tell you they have gone through agony and Dell still craps on them. Don't know what else to tell you.
I love Samsung LCD TVs. They have absolutely the best picture out there. Hands down.
For some reason, their high res, small size panels have been a little sketchy. Still acceptable, mind you, its just the LG is slighter clearer, with better viewing angles. -

Thanks for such a good answer! Midnight blue is a great color choice too.
How do I give you a good score here... I haven't tried that feature yet? -
I think on your order invoice the next to th listing for the LCD panel there is a code. I beleive if its an LG it will read XK309
-
Who are the main LCD screen manufactures? Who makes the screens for Sony, Hp, Toshiba, Apple etc? I never hear about problems with their screens. Surely LG can not be making the screens for all those companies.
-
No, its just that Dell is the only company that will put up with these type of complaints. That is why I like Dell so much. When it comes down to it, they really do try to make customers happy.
Any truth to the screen problems on the XPS M1530?
