So, I bought my M1530 in... May, and it came with Vista DVD, but not with SP1.

Is there any way to get a sp1-updated vista dvd from Dell? (Instead of having to update manually).

I just checked Dell's website and it seems they are shipping new systems with it.

    Manual download is easy...

Download SP1 from the Microsoft website.. you can get a standalone installer

    Or just run windows update..

But how come since may you haven't had SP1 in your system? even with windows update? have you got it enabled?

Also are you sure you don't have SP1? what does it say when you right click on my computer > properties?

I have SP1 installed. (manually updated)

What I want is a SP1 preloaded Vista DVD.

Ah ok.. That I don't know... probably you could try making a request.. but then I don;t know how they will ship u a vista dvd with the same key / license they gave you initially..

@JinRoh- If you request a new OS CD, they will likely ship you one with SP1. What I would do is just download vLite and slipstream SP1 in myself (this is not what I would do actually, it is what I have done in the past).

@fonduekid- What are you talking about? The license key and installation disc are not really linked. They will ship him a disc with no key at all, and he will have to install with the key he already has. In fact, dells have the key embedded in the BIOS, the disc will automatically detect his key.

And how do you request a new OS CD? Is it free and "unlimited"? (just in case I actually lost the dvd :p)

@fonduekid - didn't mean to offend, just to inform...

@JinRoh - You just go in to dell support chat and tell them that you lost or broke your OS disc. Since it's XPS support they'll ship it out, I've always gotten mine within a day or two.
