I pugged a drive into mine for the first time last night (after I figured out that you have to plug in both the eSata and the USB cable for power.)
I didn't really "use" the drive yet, but I ran a couple of benchmarks on it, and read, write and access time came out to be faster under USB?!
What's been your experience? Is the speed capped or something? I used a 200Mb/s Samsung SSD, but everything seemed capped out at between 120 and 150.

i'm not sure about speed or anything, the only thing i use it for is to plug my usb mouse into...

Yeah, I'm just referring to using the eSata port for a hard drive connecting through the eSata with an eSata chord.

the 200mb/s is theoretically max speeds... u wont get higher than 120/150...
theoritically eSATA speed trumps USB speeds, but in the real world.... anything happens... maybe u rresults are skewed because u didnt defragment? (fragmentation DOES occur in SSD..... but it hsoudln't affect results... maybe just a fluk?) -
I got 200 mb/s read and write in repeated tests with the drive installed in the notebook, so it's more than theoretical.

well.... remember that your hard drive in ur laptop is connected (almost)directly to the motherboard... using eSata/USB, probably goes through a memory controller or something....

Maybe its using the USB interface instead of the eSATA when you have both plugged in.
Anybody use the eSATA port on an SXPS?
