I accidentally disabled my factory installed X-Fi software by accident and now it has vanished.

I have been on the phone with a tech for over an hour trying to get it installed with no success yet.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I installed all the software for my new X-Fi USB that I got today, realized I hated it and disabled what was installed at the factory instead of what I had just installed. So this tech is obsessed with the Creative X-Fi CD that just came with my usb card thinking this will fix it.

Does anyone know where the factory installed software can be downloaded? And its not in Dell Downloads eathier.

Good luck, I've been trying to get this since day one. Dell "forgot" to install it in mine and both order and tech support have been ZERO help telling me I have to wait until I'm back in the U.S. so they can "troubleshoot" my system. If you find an answer, PLEASE post it up.

To my amazement, I have it back.

He insists that it was on the X-Fi disc that came with my USB card. But I had disabled "Realtek HD Audio" by accident.. During the trouble shoot, I had a bright idea that should of come to me earlier. When displaying all your audio devices, why not right click?

Good idea Chase. Give it a shot.

    So I did.

A menu came up. Inside of that menu was the option to "Display disabled devices"

    Hmm. Why not?

    Issue solved.

I let the tech have the enjoyment of re-installing all the Creative drivers that came with my X-Fi USB card. He insisted that if I register my creative product that "the software will now come up."

Whatever floats your boat dude. At least I got my X-Fi back. :)

Well it wasn't bothering me any. I put one earbud in and was playing counterstrike on my gateway for about 30 minutes.

Uninstalled all the Creative drivers he re-installed.

I just feel stupid because I panicked and jumped on the phone with Tech Support. I didn't even try to fix it. In my head, I was screaming "AHHHH! MY BABY!"

    I was slightly panicked.
