My new XPS 1730 notebook is coming with a Samsung screen (U814G). How does this compare with the Sharp and LG screens that others have gotten? (I was hoping to get a very bright and vivid screen.)

    Best regards.

the samsung in not super bright. it has very accurate color detail and great contrast with deep blacks and really nice whites. the lg is SO MUCH brighter and vivid though but has poor colors and honstly has no blacks they are more like bright and dark areas on the screen, the sharp is very much like the samsung but a bit dimmer and a bit less accurate.

i am stuck with the lg now i had a samsung and i miss it a LOT. i honestly could live with a much less bright and vivid screen in trade off for the MUCH MORE accurate colors.

if you want to get rid of the sammy lmk lol..but yeah the lg is prob the brightest single bulb screen on the entire market i have ever seen its just very innacurate and wayyyyy oversaturated colors. i do know that as a replacement part for the usa dell is only shipping the lg right now for some reason i have gotten 5 of them trying to get another samsung.

basically the samung at 100% brightness is about the same as the lg at about 60% yes there is that much of a difference

Thanks for the reply. I wonder why you keep getting LG replacement screens when my brand new notebook is coming with a Samsung screen? I would be interested in finding out if others are getting new notebooks with only the Samsung brand now. Anyway, I guess I'll see how the screen looks before I make any decision whether to try to have it replaced.

not sure the part number ordered is even the right number the yu241 which is samsung. they come in the box with the yu241 label on them and on the invoice but the part inside the box is always the same the yu828 which is the lg. they even sent me the sharp part number also and that also was a lg inside the box. i personally LOVE how bright the lg is but i hate everything else about it..the only negative i have with the samsung is that it is not very bright, as i said maybe about 60% overall of the lg but everything else looks stunning compared to the lg.. and the sharp imo is the next step down from the samsung. i would rank it samsung, sharp, and lg
