I called Dell today to ask about a remote and 9 cell since my M1330 had them but my replacement 1640 did not.

They agreed to send me a refurbished battery and a new remote.

Any bad stories about a refurb battery?

How long does a 9 cell last the SXPS 16?

All refurb batts I've used are usually just as good as new batts. You should get ~3 hrs out of a 9 Cell. There is a studio xps 1640 owners thread on NBR(google it), they can tell you more about the battery life.

Here is the 1640 Owner's Thread for you to peruse.

If Dell is sending you a refurb battery, you are still covered under the same applicable warranty as the battery Dell has ~ 1 year/remaining life of warranty (of 1 year warranty).
