Was browsing my manual while in the office (read: bathroom) and came across this here:

    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xpsm1730/en/om_en/html/specs.htm#wp1085988

Take a look at that FSB - 1066MHz!

All I have to say is I hope it isn't a typo :) I have the original A00 manual and an updated A01 and it is listed in both. This leads me to believe is is NOT a typo.

Guess we'll find out eventually... Also, my 1730 shipped from the outlet with BIOS A07 and the latest on dell's website is A06. Anyone know what was updated with A07?

Well, it's pretty well known that anyone and everyone will be going to Montevina once that ships.

Well, I didn't think that the 965 chipsets were capable of 1066MHz FSB speeds. Thought that Intel pretty much squeezed out as much of this chipset as they could and would move to a newer chipset.

If what you say is true, then all of you folks wanting a M1730 but are holding off for montevina can know purchase one without worrying :)

So they won't be replacing any of the M1730 except for its innards... interesting. M1530 doesn't have it though, could it be replaced? I wish there were more leaks!

Did you notice the video card:

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 256 MB

I think that Dell will lower the graphics power of the 1730 so that people that want a powerful games machine will have to go with their Alienware branding

Wow... I guess most of you guys aren't quite as excited as I am about this. After all, your expensive investment just lasted quite a bit longer if that fsb rating is correct.
Remember, the two cores communicate via the fsb so faster speed will dramatically increase processor performance.

Can't wait until the 1066MHz fsb procs are released from intel so I can test it out :)

True however within a year or so when Calpalla is released, FSB will be a thing of past. :D

Still, congratz on the discovery

They are. My old GA-965P-DQ6 (965-based) motherboard even supports 1333.

Dell still has yet to release bios A07 for the 1730.... I feel like a beta tester for Dell :)

Yeah... but full size/ desktop motherboard's are a different kettle of fish altogether.
It doesn't necessarily follow, that the same chipset on a laptop motherboard, will have the same feature set ;)

The P965 Express Desktop chipset is a completely different chipset than the PM965 Mobile chipset used in the M1730. Since the M1730 uses the PM965 Mobile I would say that 800MHZ is as good as it gets in this system.
