    No issues here. I'm running 2 kits of these: Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3K2/8GX

Although when I first got them I had to swap them around... i couldn't get the laptop to boot with 16gb installed. After swapping them around they worked fine. They are a little snug though.

Only complaint I have is no Intel XMP support with the L702x to run at 1600MHz. They clock down to 1333MHz.

Same here. I'm running four slicks of 4GB Curcial memory. Pretty cool... WEI gave me a score of 6.9! Wow!

For overall system WEI, or just for the memory score? If the memory score, then something's wrong. I get a 7.3 memory with my mere 6GB of RAM.

Can't really trust WEI, I'm get 7.5 for "Memory (RAM)"... with only the original 4GB...

I can't believe people still go by WEI.

It isn't good for testing the performance of your components and rig.

If you really want know the score of your rig, use 3D mark vantage, 3D mark '06, sysoft sandra....those are professional programs to test the performance of your rig.

WOW, How can you get that??

WEI is not reliable, I get only 5.9 with my 4GB of ram and is the worst result I have together with my HDD (5.9)..

must be the most stupid headline ive seen !

even if you play the most Ram eating game ever (ex, Crysis) who (at the most) eats about 1.5GB Ram.....................so my question: why in hell even think about 16GB Ram.

Let me see... Surfing the internet and the laptop is attached to an external monitor and I'm doing video editing at 720p. Don't you think I need more memory for that? I don't want hiccups during producing a two hour long video while surfing the internet! Otherwise I will be really cross. It is unfortunate that I do not have the capacity to buy a G5 so I'll use Dell as a good alternative. I wish Dell would release a dual cpu design for their range of laptops. Don't worry... I'm just dreaming... I was just thinking of having two Core i7-2820QM on a single motherboard with the support of up to 32GB of DDR3 memory. I'm crazy...

Besides, I've allocated 4GB memory just for swap file and learning Linux at the same time with Ubuntu Live. I think the 16GB really helped. The only problem that I had was the battery life - It lasted less than 3 hours on a single charge.

Life is just not based solely on games though.

I do agree. I think using 3d benchmark will be much better.

Wow! That's fantastic! I'm so in love with the machine at the moment. Many thanks to ZippoMan for the tip to get the 3d glasses off Amazon. It worked beautifully.

At this moment, I'm happy with the XPS 17 that I'm using right now. I will be looking out for a swap with Dell next year for the Core i7-2820QM before the warranty ends. It will be just great!

not to forget autocad, inventor and cadcam programs.

they are really hungry for ram also.

at the moment i have 4GB of ram in my xp17. l702x but it runs out on autocad along with some small programs. Inventor must be installed jet.

I design for my hobby. RC model trucks.

So running autocad inventor and some elektronic design programs all together is very common.

8GB required as minimum. but gonna expand it to 12gb.

This isn't a gaming laptop, lol! I really don't think a person considering the xps 15 or 17 is thinking too much about gaming.
