Update in second post. I thought I would post these pictures up to help others in case they are having the same problem, even though I don't have a solution for it yet.

I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my new XPS 17 (L702X) with 3d screen and glasses.

I have done many reintallations of different sets of drivers:

-video and usb 3d controller drivers from dell driver disc included with pc
-dell support website's 267.21 drivers and 3d usb controller driver
-nvidia website's beta 270.51 drivers (3d usb controller is included)

All of these result in the same problem:

When I get to the part of the 3d vision test where you get to see two shapes (a blue triangle and a different green shape), the pattern looks the same when viewed with or without glasses.

The green light on the monitor's ir emitter is on, and the glasses have a solid green light as well.

Shouldn't the screen with the patterns of blue and green shapes be doubled and blurry if viewed without glasses? That test screen looks normal as if no 3d effect is being displayed.

It seems either the ir emitter is bad or the glasses they gave be are bad. But it could also be the software since I see no doubling effect on the test pattern. I don't know how to narrow the problem down.

    Please help :(

So I found out that my IR emitter is not working properly. Below you will find images of a working IR emitter from someone else's laptop and after that you will find 3 images of my laptop's IR emitter not working even though the green 3D led indicates it should be on.

Below is an image of a working IR emitter that someone posted in the main L702x thread. Notice how the green 3d led is on and the infrared leds are on as well to communicate with the glasses.

The following are images of my laptop's emitter. The green 3D led is on as it is in the middle of the setup wizard where it should obviously be on as it should be trying to communicate with the glasses in order to analyze the image pattern. The glasses should be separating the blue and green shapes from the image pattern, but since the emitter doesn't work, the glasses don't work either.

Like I said in my first post, cleaning the drivers out and reinstalling has never helped.

Am I the only lucky person in this situation?

I'm getting the exact same thing.
All my drivers are up to date, no lights from the emitter when the green light indicating it is working is on.
Seeing both images through each eye in the glasses.
Has anyone fixed this? Or am I going to have to ask Dell to replace it?

This problem was mentioned in the main XPS 17 owners thread (can't remember which page though) and when I first received mine it was the same. In the thread somebody stated they reloaded the drivers three times before it worked, I found that I had to uninstall the drivers and completely reinstall them and that sorted the problem for me.

I had similar problem. What I did was to uninstall the driver, reboot and then reinstall the driver. After that, reboot the machine and test out the 3D glasses. It works... Good luck!
