Are all 1640's wired for WWAN from the factory?

In my Studio XPS 1640, I installed a Dell 5530 (KM266) WWAN card into the appropriate slot and attached the white and grey cables securely, but I'm only getting 2/5 bars and a pretty slow connection.

However, the same WWAN card and SIM card in a Latitude E6400 in the exact same spot gives me 5/5 bars and a decent connection speed.

Can anyone help me understand what might be going on here? Is the wiring I see in the bottom of my SXPS only half the story? Or do the 1640 and 5530 not mix well in general?

    Thanks in advance!

Err... anyone have a similar experience?

I just want to understand if I'm doing something wrong or if 1640's are all built this way.

    Thanks!

Ok, I swapped the WWAN wires attached to the mini PCI-e card (black goes to white and white goes to black) and now I have at least 4/5 bars and decent speed. Joy to the world.
